Tom Hickey looked bloody awful the other week against Essendon. If he can't replace Billy Longer in that team, then he is just not AFL standard - plain and simple.

What the hell happened to him after last year. He had a bit of a breakout season, but why the sudden decline? Did he drink his own bathwater during the preseason, along with the likes of Bruce, Maverick and Dunstan?

It must be hard knowing you are not the coach's first choice ruckman ... particularly after proving yourself with an outstanding 2016 season.

I wouldn't be writing him off in any way. He is a very talented player. Much more talented than Longer as a footballer, though not as robust or durable.

His problem really is that as it stands there is room for only one ruckman each week and the coach prefers Billy.

Yes he had a bad one against Essendon. So did everyone else. He'll be back.

If you're going to drop Billy - bring in Holmesy. He's a smokie for selection this week I reckon.

After all the ruck problems we've had this year, I honestly cannot believe Jason Holmes hasn't been given a promotion. Particularly given his consistency at Sandy. It could have been invaluable experience for him. Instead, it appears he has gone begging.

Apparently Pierce has done bugger all for Sandy. If it comes down to selecting either Huey (Holmes), Chewie or Lewie, it's Huey for mine, by a long shot!
