observations from tonight

Post: # 1687115Post terry smith rules »

apart from feeling so disappointed

Dunstan - good game
Steven -is he fit, as he has hardly had any influence
Joey - was this his last game if that is a bad hamstring
Acres - are you kidding 190com and 90kg same size as Joey Kennedy... any chance of him getting involved

overall we were completely initimidated by the swans, bottom tier players like C sinclair, hewett, papley etc were made to look elite

They only had 17 more scoring shots than us .
Gee they were lucky we didn't pinch it.

was our best tonight, but you took a dislike to him early and it'll be a long time in hell before you see the error of your ways.

LOL. Dunstan was one very few St Kilda players tonight that can hold his head high.

Alan Richardson is obsessed with passing the ball...

He's pbly sitting there thinking: it's going to take a lot more passing to get us out of this jam

Outclassed, but I thought they battled it out well. Membrey has been sorely missed.

Sydney play the ground well, and are at the top of their game with pressure and efficiency, and Sinclair had a blinder.

I don't think any other team in the comp would have got within 3 goals tonight.

i have two observations from tonight

1. membrey is almost the most crucial player for us

2. this was the worst loss of the season

regarding point 1, the swans would force us to kick to a 1 on 1 down the line almost every time, and like clockwork, we lost them. this where membrey and his contested marking are crucial. if we have him in their he may pinch a mark 50% of the time and get us another forward 50 entry. currently, we have no one with his mix of aerobic capacity and marking skills, we struggle without that

the 2nd point isnt pessemistic cry about how we will never win a flag, but for me, this was the worst loss of the season. this is because barring armo and membrey out, we had our best 22 on the park and we tried hard. however we were outclassed in every area of the field, and lost alot of contests that should have broken even. it was just a team that will make the grand final again against a team hoping to make finals for the first time since 2011, and it showed we have along way to go before taste any kind of success

hopefully we dont start another losing streak after a win streak, but we probably will

I'd like to be the swines fan who allegedly plonked 2K on the swines after round 6 when their flag odds were 101/1. Nice payout coming if they continue this way.

One of Longer's better games and Billings OK but not great.

We missed Gilbo more than I could have ever imagined.

Saying that, we have the depth of a toddler wading pool.

Lets give credit to the Swans first, they are the form team at the moment and they were slick thru the midfield and moved the ball with such ease it was great to watch from a footy fan point of view. Our problems seem to be kicking the ball near the target not to the target. How many times did you notice the ball landing in front of our guys only for them to have to bend down and pick it up or try to read the bounce. then there is the handballing behind the player so he has to stop or so high he has to jump for it. And don't get me started on the kick forward and hope tactics. All I can hope is that the pre season focuses on this.

Ha ha ok. He is a star. We are a great side. Richo is a great coach
We have the best recruitment and development program in the AFL.

Dunstan is bog average. Slow. Poor endurance. Poor kick. Average decisions.

This is how St Kilda is meant to be. It's in the genes.
Like Richmond is destined to keep losing close games,
St Kilda is doomed to always get belted, put plodders on pedestals, celebrate any win like a Grand Final

It's how St Kilda rolls

Gay pride is fine, but it would be nice to see some heterosexual football next week.

I think Dunstan needs quick players around him. Was OK tonight but lack of pace, and pace around him, to be effective. He could potentially develop a Sam Mitchell type style but, with his lack of pace, needs movement around him to move the ball on. For now though I don't think he brings much to the middle.

Acres is playing like he is one mistake from Sandringham; like his entire future is riding on each possession. I hope the coaching staff can get some contiguous games into his to let him have the confidence to play his natural game. Lonie has been given that luxury so why not Blake?

What a pathetic, nothing, out-of-touch post.
You thought we played 'gay' today?
I would suggest we let down a cause that has been fighting for recognition and rights for 100s of years. And has fought a lot harder than we did today.

'Heterosexual football'. That's honestly the most pathetic thing I've ever heard and I feel sorry for you.

Typical Sydney game.

They get a lead, hold us at arms length for the duration and then just kick away a bit at the end.

Seen it many times before.
