ST KILDA forward Tim Membrey has been offered a two-match suspension for his late hit on Richmond defender Dylan Grimes in Saturday night's clash at Etihad Stadium.

Membrey's strike, which sidelined Grimes for the entire second half and left him with swelling near his cheekbone, was graded careless conduct with high impact to the head.

The Saints forward arrived late to a contest as Grimes was running with the flight of the ball, making contact with his forearm to the Tiger defender's head and eventually forcing him from the ground.

A medical report was used in determining the grading, with Grimes suffering concussion and unable to return to the match in the second half.

I hate the system were even if you want to explain what happened (your intensions and options)...unless you accept you get hit with extra week........
Live normal speed membrey had already committed to the attempt of marking but was slightly later to(drop of ball)...as result arm out in prepation for a chest mark..last split second instinct to protect arm already out...just bad luck..
Accepting penalty ....under some circumstances is a form blackmail to get the reduction

Of course it looks bad in super slow mo.....

It is very disappointing to lose Membery for both of these important matches just as he has hit top form.
It's quite a difficult choice to replace him as Paddy hasn't had enough football and Acres is a tall midfielder but I can't see him playing a permanent forward role.

Fair result, braced when not able to mark but got forearm to head and head isn sacred.

On basis of like for Like expect Paddy to come in. Never know could be the making of him as guaranteed 2 weeks go at it

Does Paddy get his chance with Membrey out?

The problem with Paddy is he has only played 8 minutes of footy in the last three weeks.
The coaches would know if his training is sufficient to make up for not having game time.

It is called bullying.
The AFL use this system of bullying to show the world how they are fighting bullying.

Yes Paddy gets a chance at Sandringham with Membrey out.
