I think he's a HFF at best now... vying for the position of Mav, Long etc

A midfield of Steven, Stevens, Steele, Ross and Armo seems to have too many similar types

The way he actually stops to assess his options catches opponents off guard.
Dylan Roberton also shows tremendous composure.

He doesn't stop dead still like Seb. I've never seen any player do it!

I also love how Seb tucks the ball under his arm when he runs with it. Haven't been any players to do that since 80s.

Harvey did a lot of the stop-start stuff - a little similar!
Best by far this year.
When we are going crap I wonder where Seb is - why he is on the bench etc.. Him and Jack S. Jack is still doing as well IMO but with more attention, so the lifting of the others is vital for us. Seb is such a core player that with Jack - the much vaunted Cochin and Martin struggled to get near the pill for an entire half.
Now for bigger fish!!

Hey mate, good to see you posting here again.

I thought there were a few glimpses of R Harvey in Sinclair's game on Friday night. Just the way he moved, side-stepping a couple of opponents. Mind you, the #35 on his back may have induced flashbacks for me.

Seb also has a very nice kick around the corner - did it a couple of times on Saturday, just kicking around his man.

Armo is in the hands of the medical gods at this point.
Completely unknown whether he gets back to his best of 2015.

Ross borrowed the stand still stop-start from Sam Mitchell. Though Ross is also trying some Lionel Messi type fakes from that standing position.

Sinclair in space with the ball is reminiscent of Harvey. In no other way are they similar for Harvey was God-like, but when Sinclair runs 5-10 paces and kicks the ball you can see lots of Harvey. Nathan Freeman too runs like Harvey the way he carries the ball in two hands.

Seems like he almost takes a second or two to weigh up his options and he never gets caught.

Composure.

Love it!

I wrote him off two years ago.
To be the real deal he needs to do what he is doing now for the next couple of years but signs are good.

I've also written Paddy off so here is hope!
Agree, I thought he wasn't going to make it, has proved me wrong quite emphatically. Love being wrong about it too

The damaging nature of his disposal and his willingness to run with the ball have been the biggest improvement in his game this year.

Last year he had games of 30 + possessions without really having too much influence on the match. Still racking up the possessions but have far more impact this year. Also running away from packs, which i don't remember him doing much at all through the early part of his career.

He's done a Lenny Hayes.

Slow build and now he's suddenly elite and it's caught everyone off-guard.

Clearly in the best 30 players in the AFL this year.

Coaches vote have him in the best 3!

No, he is not.

That isn't meant has a slight to Ross though, I just think Jack Steven is a better player.

THis is good news for St Kilda, because Ross is very good and not our best player.

I tipped him at the beginning of the year, but on the basis that we would win 16 games. Whilst that's mathematically still possible, it is unlikely. Midfielders do well in the Brownlow in winning teams. It's the difference between polling 3 votes and 1 vote. I reckon he could have 12 votes at the moment, but that would be about 8 fewer than the leader. If we continue to win, he will do well. He is very consistent and, yes, our best player at the moment.
Isn't it idiotic that rhe best on ground era 3 times as many votes as 3rd best.

Instead of 3,2,1 it should be the best three players given a ranking out of 10.

Dont agree with you.
He is clearly our best player. Followed by Roo and then Stuv.

But hey, you are entitled to your opinion.

Interesting considering he is contracted until the end of 2019.

I tend to agree. Steven's best far better then Ross', but Seb Ross is far more consistent. Both offer different things to the midfield and it's exciting to see how our team is shaping up for our premiership charge in the next few years

I think he is now our best player... he's been good for longer than most give him credit for, last year when he touched up Dangermouse and got the tree Brownlow votes showed just how good he is going to be,
Has the best composure of any of our players , he waits until players come to him then dishes off easily , rarely misses a target .
I'm known for making some big calls but I think he will be absolute elite... we may have our A grade midfielder that some are prepared to sell the house for.

I'd sooner have him than Fyfe at the moment

It might be interesting to consider how the opposition 'rate' our players. I don't recall Seb being 'tagged' by anybody this year whereas most games Jack Steven is. it would appear that most opposition clubs feel Jack is a 'bigger danger' to them than Seb.
(I'm not belittling Seb's form this year - he has gone to a new level of consistency.)
