I noticed it and commented elsewhere. At a guess, I'd say hammy.

Not his soccer skills - was it the first quarter where he pinged a nice right to left curler off the ground, straight to a saints player??

Yes, I think he hit Roo with a 30 meter soccer kick along the boundary.
It was one of those nights where everything worked.

Newnes really reminds me of BJ now, not overhead but the disposal and link work between back half and forward.
He has become a very good AFL player and probably the best field kick in the club.

I think Saints fans really overrate him.

His decision making is perplexing at times.

Needs to work on his pretzel smashing also if he wants to take on BJ.

Talking of pointing, Schneids was the king of pointing!

I think he will be greatly missed if he is out this week.

Agree and watching him and Dmac live Saturday they have to hit a target
Newnes decision just looked a tad slow for mine like he always s cond guessed first option and struggled to not turn it over at time

No - Clint Jones was king of pointing!

Donald Trump is the king of pointing. And forming little circles with his thumb and forefinger.

ridiculous comment. Watch the first half of the Richmond game again. Newnes was the spark that got us going, he was everywhere and his kicking was exceptional. He is actually underrated in the competition and one of the most dependable and consistent players at the club

I'll have to watch the replay again. Watching it on TV I was marveling at how almost every time he got the ball in the first half he not only found a team mate but almost always set up the play. Not just some pointless kick sideways. Almost always an attacking kick in board.

He badly mucked one kick up when he was tackled as he kicked and turned it over but I can't remember too many others.

Clearly the coaches rate him, I do too. Automatic inclusion every week.

Next to Seb Ross - Jack Newnes is our most consistent player.

The Question remains was he injured?

18 months on, I agree with them.

He's a battler at best.

So I think it begs the question...... what, why or how has Newnes become so damn terrible? Us fans are about to combust (myself included) because he keeps getting a game despite hardly getting a kick, hardly hitting a target and never laying a tackle!?

He used to be solid. He got touches, good disposal, solid leadership. What happened??!? 😖

He knows he's been shopped around and will be traded out.

I used to be a bit of a fan but not so in the last 2-3 seasons....was more likely based
on potential...but l have moved on from those optimistic wishes.

Butchers the ball despite being quite a decent kick technique wise.
Decision making is sub AFL standard or not at a level required by us.
Not sure why his tackle numbers would be down, probably a mental thing,
no desire or intent...

Is he already out the door?

Wonder.

Always thought he would have been handy in the Ross Lyon teams as 18-22 player. Not that we will ever know.
