Any nominations for the weird thing that happened today?
Seeing St Kilda v Freo matches almost always throw up some bizarre happening (e.g.
Sirengate, Peter Carey's mark, Whispers in the Sky, Baker's 8 weeks, Most Possessions Ever),
any nominations for today's match? For posterity?

Yep: there'll be a fair bit of commentary about that. Taking the points off us might be a bridge too far, even for the AFL.bigcarl wrote:Rooey conning opponents into giving away 50?

Suckered the guy beautifully !
Players are always trying to get a cheap 50 . Most times whatever ploy they use doesn't work.
It guaranteed a goal although membery should have kicked straight anyway

I nominate the Gresham grubber goal that was callled a goal and replay show it was probably touched over the line ... but the vision could not definitively say whether it was before, on or after the line and without clear evidence the umpires call should stand according to the rules. Query has to be whether the video review official is an impartial umpire?

Yeah, the AFL will now probably outlaw con jobs and it will henceforth be known as "the Riewoldt Rule".

NICK Riewoldt left footy fans unimpressed with a sneaky tactic that gifted St Kilda a 50m penalty and crucial final-quarter goal in its narrow win over Fremantle.
The Saints were trailling by four points deep in the last quarter when Saints forward Tim Membrey outjumped two Dockers defenders to mark directly in front of goal.
Freo youngster Griffin Logue picked up the ball and threw it to Riewoldt, who was calling for it as Membrey had his back turned and walking back from the mark.
Riewoldt stepped away from the ball and appealed for the 50m penalty, which the umpire awarded.

I thought you had to give back directly to the player who took the mark ?
Think Roo was just asking for Logue to hand the ball back to Membrery because all the while the shot clock was running
Stupid by Logue - should have thrown it Membrery not to Roo - amateur hour

Re: Any nominations for the weird thing that happened today?
That was utter bollocks. There was nothing conclusive to overall the decision. We seem to get the wrong end of the stick with these video reviews for goals and behinds.BackFromUSA wrote:I nominate the Gresham grubber goal that was callled a goal and replay show it was probably touched over the line ... but the vision could not definitively say whether it was before, on or after the line and without clear evidence the umpires call should stand according to the rules. It's the old story. If Sam Mitchell had done it it would've been a dodgy sneaky act by a smug slimeball scumbag. Rooey does it and I loved it.bigcarl wrote:http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/t ... 84a59410e6

Clearly touched. The mark by the Docker after Roo kicked for goal looked like it was over the line.BackFromUSA wrote:I nominate the Gresham grubber goal that was callled a goal and replay show it was probably touched over the line ... but the vision could not definitively say whether it was before, on or after the line and without clear evidence the umpires call should stand according to the rules. My moment was the Pest Ballantyne getting a free after Jake asked him if he was ok
Then having it reversed
And the pest pointing and yelling at the Docker whose fault it was (the reversal)
