Time to eliminate the draw?
What do folks think of the idea of playing extra time, in the event of sides being level after four quarters? Rugby League has the "golden point". Soccer has the penalty shoot-out. Do we all love the romance of the drawn game? Or would we prefer to see every game conclude in a result for one side or the other? I agonise about " what might have been" in the 2010 GF if an extra ten minutes had been played. For my money, Collingwood had run their race, and the momentum was firmly with US! Don't get me wrong, it is what it is, and we move on, however it would be nice to think that we'll see a result on the day, next time we're there!

A draw is a result.
If the Olympic 100 metres is a dead heat that is the result.
if a soccer game is a 0-0 draw (as most are) that is the result.

Re: Time to eliminate the draw?
It's interesting to see folks opinion on this issue. In an age when so many want to see a result/outcome for every single fixture, it's interesting to see some wanting to retain the draw. By the way, contrary to popular opinion/misconception "most" soccer games aren't 0-0 draws. That's just the anti-soccer brigade's view.

I wouldn't mind the extra time... have been to a few draws over the journey... nobody feels good.

you can't split flags, you can split points. draws are great - half of every soccer game is a draw. the other half are no better.

Why do people have trouble with draws? It's not like they happen very often in footy.
And despite 2010, I have no issue with draws in finals, let alone in grand finals. All part of the theatre. Come on Dave! What have you got against theatre?
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?
