Tie a yellow ribbon

Post: # 1681664Post White Winmar »

Hi everybody! Hi Dr. Nic! Sorry, wrong character! I'm coming home I've done my time........A quick thank you for all the well wishers and supporters during my incarceration. It was greatly appreciated. To those who got a bit of Schadenfreude out of it, that's good too. I aim to please.Everyone's a winner.

I deserved my enforced holiday, although I think timing was an issue. I lost the plot a bit and as BB wrote , I'm just a mug copper who'll do my time. I'd had a very bad week, professionally and physically. The bloody toe and foot are still giving grief, but that's no excuse. If you take OxyContin and post, you're a bloody idiot! In the end, as JM posted, no one went to jail for 20 years.

Anyhoo, I've really enjoyed just reading the forum. We forget how many funny and talented buggers there are on this forum. It's why I love it. Reading while having the virtual gag on is an interesting experience. It's actually good for a spell. I once went on a ten day, Vipassna, silent meditation course. Yes, me. Foghorn Leghorn. It was torture, but in the end enormously beneficial. As was this ban. I look forward to getting stuck in again, ignoring those things that don't matter. The mods were right. They have an awful job. They've cleaned things up a lot since the forum was running out of control. This latest crackdown is a "correction". I look forward to interacting with you all again. Somewhat disappointingly, when I got off the bus this morning there were no yellow ribbons tied around the old oak tree.

Did you hear about the photon boarding a jet?

Thanks for your support during incarceration, WS. Much appreciated. A proton walks into a bar. Asks for a beer. The bartender says "are you sure". "I'm Positive", replies the proton.

Up and down, Yin and yang, plus and minus, positive and the N word (which gets us into so much strife) - can't have one without the other. We are not Geelong supporters after all. So let's hope we can still bag the "s..t" out of each other and the team when it is deserved. Respectfully of course.

Welcome back. You were indeed missed.

Very nice words and it is not very often that people can see their misdemeanours, however slight. Thanks for taking the high road. (Someone else didn't - just blamed others).

I hope you are feeling a lot better soon in the leg-end department

I agree that the Administrators are doing a good job. It is non-paid. Once you put your hand up you become a target for some people.

People craftily pose unanswerable questions and split infinite hairs.

This forum is the same as life. You can do anything you want. And at the end you have to evaluate how you lived.

Think it's now time to welcome Pluggsy back as well. We got rid of the death penalty a long long time ago.

If Jake the Peg can get out, surely we can give Plugger another chance. Free Plugger.

One small issue I need to clear up for Joffa Burns. We chose xavier Clarke ahead of Nick Dal Santo in the 2001 draft because he was next on the list after Juddy. Dal was a couple down the list, unbelievably, although from memory Jimmy Bartel wasn't on the radar! Brilliant bit of recruiting by JB, as no one had Dal on their list. Apparently suffered from "Mark Waugh" syndrome. Didn't seem to go very hard, lacked pace and intensity and some thought he lacked pace. How wrong they were! What a pluck by the wise old bugger. That's recruiting master class right there. One of the best steals in history. Lucky we got him. As for X, he cooda been a contender. Sublimely gifted, a complete player, but with a body as fragile as ancient papyrus. The traps of recruiting right there.

Good to have you back WW
Although from that first conciliatory post I was worried you'd had the Jack Nicholson treatment.
I quite like the grumpy WW.

If I remember correctly Dal Santo performed badly at the Draft Camp. Several clubs dropped off him. JB seemed to know it was due to an illness so "welcome Nick".

Welcome back young man!
Hopefully another young chap will return soon!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to 'titch' returning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the belated reply.
My point was you had stated the plan was to recruit Ball, Judd & Dal.
If that was the case the plan would have been Ball, Judd and X surely, as we took X 8 places above Dal.
Not that it is of any relevance 16 years later.

You could have thought the same thing of Judd at the time. Two shoulder reconstructions by 18 could've been a bit of a trap as well, but we all know how that turned out

Judd's surgeries actually tightened and improved his shoulders. We wanted him alright. We outsmarted ourselves, as did the WCE. Bugger!
