Sure thing hard man, as an outside player he was second on the ground for contested possessions and our equal best along with Steven.

An elite at 21 years old. Amazing.

This young bloke when he recontracts will be on serious coin. He will be our next captain without a doubt.

Lucky those drug cheats didn't get him.

Yesterday was his most impressive game for mine - better than the 5 goals v Carlton and the matching performance against the Dogs.

BUT he is not better than Bont yet, Bont is a superstar of the comp, and been doing it for seasons. A once in a generation player in the mould of Selwood and Judd that do it from day 1.

AND I wouldn't have thought Billings would be captain material. But that's a view from the grandstand.

Both of the above isn't an issue. Getting in the conversation as the Bont is great, and not every player has to be a captain.

Gee I wish. Bont is in the top 10 best players in the comp. Not sure Billings is in top 40.

Having said that, he has been great these last couple of months and continues to build into a very very good player. We all need to stop worrying who was taken in draft after him and just hope he becomes a great 250 game player for us.

That post is probably the most irrelevant I've ever read on here.

Opportunity missed:

"That post is probably the most irrelevant I've ever read on here" would read better as "In a sea of irrelevancy, your post, kind sir, is surely the cork that floats to the top!"

That's a low blow, I have made MANY more irrelevant posts than that one…

On The Couch tonight touched on him about now being elite for his position on the ground (a high half forward role). Pleasing

Still has the record for the quietest 30 touch, 5 goal game ever in history of the game.

24 touches and 4 goals at half time.
6 touches and 1 goal after that.

Next to no hype in the media for it either.

Robbie Gray had 20 touches and 5 goals on the weekend and the media in Port Adelaide have declared a public holiday

On this year's form, Bont isn't in the best 30 players in the comp

JB got into the AFL media team of the week- and not just on the bench

His field kicking is a joy to behold - along with Sinclair who is our other decent field kick. Still don't quite understand why JB misses relatively easy shots on goal - I personally think it's mental pressure. Seems to slot the ones where he has less time to think.

His improved consistency is so exciting as well. The sooner the footy world moves past the Bontempelli comparisons the better - it accomplishes nothing and robs Billings of the genuine improvement he is making. He, Newnes and Sinclair are our best field kickers by a long, long way.

A comment that could apply to many otherwise skilful players with kicks on the run, Nick DS and Aussie J come to mind. I think Jack's game of the weekend has been exaggerated a bit. For some reason, GC didn't put a man on him for most of the game and with an outside player with skills, that's unforgivable. I guess if you drop two players behind the ball then some players are going to be left without opponents. Certainly, with all the media attention, Freo are unlikely to make the same mistake. But, all good players can expect a tag, so he'll just have to get used to it. In the past, he has been rather easily knocked off his game by physicality, because he doesn't have much of that himself.

JB - 55 games and really starting to hit his straps.

Someone should make a loose rule that you should reserve judgement on a player until they've played around 50 games. Could save a lot of bed wetting.
