Try Savage forward

Post: # 1677166Post Joffa Burns »

Yes he has his deficiencies, but his skill level is AFL standard and he has some pace.
He can kick a goal from outside the arc which is a rare skill at StKilda.

Although he misses targets, he can kick.
What have we got to lose?

As it stands he is unlikely to survive unless he can reinvent his game.

Might be worth a try. His boot surely still has some value at AFL level.

If that were to fail, I think that would close the book on his AFL career.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

We have Billings doing this role quite well, I would prefer we debut a new player or take another look at Long or Lonie.

Savage is a solid AFL player who would look much better playing in a top 4 side… it's tough work being an outside player in an ordinary side and unfortunately I can't see him getting a new contract so we might as well take a look at some other potentials.

Savage is a reasonable backup wingman half forward...but not in our team. Would be good at the blues, freo and hawks, maybe tigers, swans would look at him also. Can't see him getting another contract at stkilda.

Not a bad idea. Who do you drop? Weller or Gresh?

Rest Gresh, he's struggling at the moment.
I think through age more than anything.

We need more midfield rotation with pace and depth on their kick so maybe rotate huff and puff through the middle a little more regularly.

My point with Savage is he can kick 60+ and can kick a goal which are rare commodities at the moment.

I have no problem with Savage playing forward at Sandy for the rest of the year, when he will be delisted.

We got him to provide outside run on a wing. He didn't perform there when he first came to the club, so they sent him back to Sandy playing at HB to get his confidence. We now have plenty of guys who can play half back but still not enough guys who can provide outside run and skill.

Try him on the wing again- nothing to lose.

Savae should never play again. There's absolutely zero point in putting games into him.

Great idea. I can't understand whySavage is hated so much. He turns the ball over abit, yes, but he is one off the few that take the game on. Whilst many many of our players are more than happy to handball back into the pack... hot potato style... Savage actually breaks the lines.

Without his run of the backline the Saints have struggled majorly.
