Where is our Mojo?
There was a little girl
BY HENRY WADSWORTH LONGFELLOW
There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.
That poem sums up the Saints this year. We tend to either be very good, or very poor, with little middle ground.
Our last for weeks we have been horrid. Onlya career best game from billings stopped up from losing the Blues.
But in that last quarter against GWS we were sublime.
Our we can be the two faces of that little girls in the one game. Like Cats when we were horrid in that last quarter.
Now many teams with inexperienced and developing players with tend to display this Little Girl Syndrome. but the extent that the Saints do this year is to me surprising as their is a good mix of experience in the team.
So why are the Saints so up and down, and in particular why are we so down at present?
That last quarter against GWS announced the football world to not take us lightly, and since that last quarter IMO I think it has mentally had our opponents know that they need to work hard to stop our play and they have.
The double wammy is that that win against GWS seems to have instead of instilling belief in that is how we need to play, it has rather seen the players (and the fans too!) play like they think that they have already and achieved, with the result that this celebration factor has the players playing with less effort and concentration and care. Handballs and kicks now miss, the run is not there and bad decisions abound.
This is not to say that the team is still lacking in the players that it needs to be a very good consistently. We have known for some time that our midfield lacks two genuine guns, skillful guns. But right hear and now the difference between and our best and worst is too great, and we are rolling out the worst. It is largely mental and both coaches and players need to face that fact and own it.
This also then raises the point of onfield leadership and that the Saints do not seem to have players like Hayes at present who can raise the bar and drag their team mates along with them when times are dark.
We are better than what we have seen the last four games. So how do the Saints get their Mojo back and when will this occur? Who knows.

but
raises some good points - we have the making of a good team - just need some cream and a game plan - I have searched ebay (could not find anything) but did find 'St Kilda Football Club' on sale for $249.00 at Cash Converters Webshop

Get rid of Savage (contract up end of year)
Lose Joey and don't let him in, even as a runner
Rooey end of year retired.
Pick up one more defender, 2 more mids that have Sinclair's accuracy and composure.
Find a marking key forward, no matter the price. Until McCartin can learn his trade and become valuable (he will)
Skunk has gone backwards and is seriously in purgatory.
Bwoose works hard, runs as manic as a shoplifter, but he's struggling with output

As it stands, we have beaten the bottom 3 sides, plus Collingwood who are one spot above us and GWS who are top.
