If we bring the same crap into the game that we've brought for the last month, I'll be quoting your mate Shakespeare in saying "now is the winter of our discontent"

Re: We could lose 5 in a row!
No chance of another win for the rest of the year.
Rd 23, we'll be 5-18
Look at the bombers against Power, they are precise and accurate, unlike another team that shall remain nameless.
Get used to it.

Re: We could lose 5 in a row!
North is a 50/50
Gold Coast Win
Fremantle Win
Richmond at Etihad 50/50
Essendon Win
Sydney at SCG Loss
Port in Adelaide Loss
West Coast - here Win
Melbourne at G - 50/50 (depends which Melbourne shows up)
North Melbourne Win
Richmond at G - Loss
At least 5 more wins this year, and possibly as many as 8. Form changes everything. We will win at least 10 games this year, and could win as many as 13, but that is very unlikely. I think 12 wins and a ninth placed finish is most likely.

I love it how you base all this win loss stuff on our form a month ago.

I don't know how you reckon we could win against the Bombers or Norf, based on their current form and our current form.samuraisaint wrote:North is a 50/50

We play one extra in defence so Robbo can get cheap easy kicks running as an unaccountable loose man.
The ball comes back into our D50 over the wall, and we'll lose to Norf/Bombers by more than 50.
And why is Richmond 50/50 and then a loss? How do you work that out?

Why not make that 6, 7 or 8? Anything can happen.

Re: We could lose 5 in a row!
I did say North this week is 50/50. I think we can beat them later in the year because based on their form over many years they fade badly in the second halves of seasons, and because there is not much separating us talent wise now.WellardSaint wrote:I don't know how you reckon we could win against the Bombers or Norf, based on their current form and our current form.samuraisaint wrote:North is a 50/50

Bombers are up and down, I think we'll beat them at Etihad.
We could possibly beat Richmond at Etihad in a few weeks, but we won't beat them at the MCG going on exposed current form.
I have never posted that I think we can make finals this year on here, and I am a realist. But I think we can't base the rest of the year's possible results on a block of games when we have played last years grand finalists and probably the third best team going around - when they are in Adelaide anyway. I always believed we are at least one elite midfielder away from being a top 8 team. I also think that the team have never proven that they can stop teams getting a run on. This has been ongoing since 2013 and is a major weakness of the training and development of the team for mine. The most glaring example of this was the Gold Coast game last year. They had the game won in the first quarter. How they'll fix this now I have no idea, but I would suggest at least leaving our FB at FB and our FF at FF. Barassi once said that when we have the ball everybody is a forward, except our full back, and when they have it everybody on our team is a defender - except our FF. This ridiculous style of play where we have nobody forward of the centre square when we're defending, and nobody on the opposite wing when the ball is on the other wing is appalling. We need to be a lot more proactive and a lot less reactive.
If we go into Friday night's game with the right attitude we are a massive chance to beat North. Either way, we'll beat Gold Coast and Fremantle after that. We may not beat Richmond the week after that, but we'll beat the Bombers at Etihad. Then we have another tough pair of games, both interstate. The block of matches on the run home isn't too bad - we'll beat West Coast in Melbourne and have proven we can beat the Dees at the G over the past ten or twelve seasons, should be able to beat North at Etihad, and then a tough one at the G.
We'll win at least 10 games this year, possibly 12. The realistic posters on here looked at the fixture when it came out and suggested holding our position from 2016 would signal improvement given the massive difference in difficulty when compared to our draw last season. We need to stay in games longer which until the past the games we had, and lessen the size of the hidings we have been getting these past five years - which we have, so far. Sometimes improvement is incremental and can move at a glacial pace.

It will be quite an achievement to be 5-18 as we only play 22 matches!WellardSaint wrote:No chance of another win for the rest of the year.

Fremantle is way worse then we are right now. Losing Sandilands makes them pathetic, look at all the matches he has played this year vs last year, and see where Fremantle are any good.
West Coast are insipid in Melbourne, so that gives us a chance for later this year
But Melbourne will spank us. Have been playing without Gawn or Hogan most of the year, and they will be back by the time we play them
