Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
Would have been nice if he kicked another goal or two, but he was hardly the only culprit of poor goal kicking

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
The best thing about Paddy, is that he still tries hard and competes,
and doesn't really make silly errors. Nice and composed,
while our other guys catch the disease of fumble and stuff around.
He stood out tonight as a young bloke who actually cared and wasn't overwhelmed

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
No credit was due for most of the team's efforts last night. Granted, Paddy presented well, but missed a couple of bread and butter set shots so it's safe to say we won't be showering him with praise in the aftermath of the game.

No credit?
No goals, he was seviceable .... and was far from the worst ... far from the best either.

he got shocking delivery. 8 times the ball was kicked over his head, at his feet, or way too close to the boundary line. The Fireman wrote:it puzzles me why you are calling out for credit for him ??

I don't think he is going to make it.
Watched him closely tonight.
I am a knocker.
For a pick 1 in the draft he has several glaring problems with his game and athleticism and I have genuine serious concerns about how much he will improve.
Feel free to bookmark this.
Hard to see how he was pick 1 with such a limited one dimensionsal game. His flaws are very obvious to see.

How the hell can Melbourne beat the Crows?
What about our 45m kicks straight to a crow?
Richo needs to forget about his pets like Gilbo and Weller and actually put the best 22 on the park

One thing's for sure. He ain't worthy of the number one pick.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
Just as a matter of interest how many number one picks have ends up the best in their draft year?
Rooey, Goddard and possibly Hodge that I can think of.
McCartins game was fine for a young key forward other than his goal kicking tonight, presented well got the ball at ground level multiple times after contesting the mark. On top of this he is a lovely kick in general play and showed clean hands at ground level .
Is never going to be a tackling chasing forward but showed enough, would also be handy if we could kick the thing to his advantage.
All the recruiters must be clueless according to a lot of you on here as Paddy and Petracca were considered the stand out two.
The one thing I did not think I would read after last nights game was Paddy copping it.

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
I will give credit to Paddy last night, there was a bit of light at the end of the tunnel there. If he had nailed his other two shots, it would have been brighter. Also Mav's 2nd half was more like him from last year, again, if he had nailed a goal or two, would have been better.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

He is like Jay Schulze without the leap.
Might be a serviceable 200 career goal player.

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
He was serviceable at best.
Was not our worst.
Good at the contest, still looked to be spectating once the ball hit the ground (but it was TV).
At least he is not being spoken of as facing the ace this week

A good idea as it forces us develop a young forward line. I tried to post the Herald Sun story on this but cannot find the link.
But basically it says the club must get Riewoldt out of the forward line next season or force him to retire.
He says he's been frank with his friend Riewoldt on this issue.
This is worthy of a separate thread, but, as I said I can't find a link

Re: Still no Credit for Paddy!!!!!
He didn't ask to be pick one. We need to learn from that mistake and move on.
He was much better tonight and he gave it a go. Can't ask for more than that. He has obvious faults that need to be fixed and much of the issues are around fitness so won't be a fix for this year. However was up the ground was putting in.
Most pleasing thing (taken only from tv) is he kept his head up.
Was better than many in this game.
