MRP - Steven charge with striking Bont - Fine

Post: # 1674296Post SemperFidelis »

"Jack Steven, St Kilda, has been charged with striking Marcus Bontempelli, Western Bulldogs, during the fourth quarter of the Round 10 match between St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday May 27, 2017.

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the available video evidence and a medical report from the Western Bulldogs Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct with low impact to the body. The incident was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable record which impacts the penalty. An early plea enables the player to accept a $1000 sanction."

what was the incident?

"No applicable record"?
...Jack was already fined 3 weeks ago for walking into Stephen Coniglio of the Giants.
He was accused of "kneeing" but to me, it looks like he was simply walking and Coniglio had moved slower
than Stuv anticipated.

Biomechanically, when one is walking, one lifts each foot, which means a knee comes up as well.

In a week where there was supposed to be a zero tolerance for jumper punches and the sort - a fine is the result of a clear and intentional strike to the upper body (Sydney v Hawthorn). Hhhhmmmm - nothing to see here - no jumper was being held.

FFS - how toothless is the MRP (unless you wear the tricolours of RW&B [read #10])
