Ladder Watch Round 8
As I said last week, your ladder position doesn't matter after round 8 but it's good for bragging rights especially if we stay above the Tigers.
After that win we are 5th with a percentage of 110.73
Geelong and GWS are level with us but they would need the mother of all hidings to drop below us on percentage.
Port will go ahead of us if they win.
Richmond will stay below us if they lose
If Richmond win we need it to be a small win.
r = richmond f = fre
We want r < 1.11f + 6.95
If Freo score 70 we need the Tigers to score 84 or less
If Freo score 100 we need the Tigers to score 117 or less
but seeing we're talking Freo.
If Freo score 40 we need the Tigers to score 51 or less.

So how come they made us look fourth rate in that last quarter?Con Gorozidis wrote:Well I've been saying it all year.

Cannot believe Melbourne. This season is wide open. What was adjudged a tough draw for us this year needs some reassessment.
Looking at the games forward I can see us winning 14 in a canter.

We also thought they were better than they really are and they still thought they were good.
We should wallop them next time around.

There is a rumour going around Shanghai that the Chinese government will not allow the winning team to bring the 4 points back to Australia.kosifantutti wrote:Port have never won a game in China. And Richmond are Richmond.ace wrote:We will be 7th after Richmond and Port both win.

With GWS's continued injury run I agree.SemperFidelis wrote:Cannot believe Melbourne. This season is wide open. .
Crows are brittle.
Cat's heavily rely on Danger and Selwood.
Dogs are not quite on their game. Though they have shown that they know how to play well in finals.
Tigers draw at the start of the year was easier than the remainder. I expect them to start slipping soon.
However I expect the Swans to improve and North should have won more game than they have.
Season is wide open, but just not the Saints, but for about a dozen teams.

It is a very, very, even year.
Yes we are 1 game off top. But we are also 1 game off being outside the 8.
We need to keep winning more than we lose. Yes obvious statement I know. But really this year there are no easy games, and if you are off in any given week you lose.

Re: Ladder Watch Round 8
We can't control which other sides win or lose - we can only control how we play and how we let our opposition play on any given day. We just need to keep winning as many games as possible and the ladder and (hopefully) finals will sort themselves out.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Ladder Watch Round 8
Well that analysis was totally wrong. Richmond were level on games with us so any win would have put them in front. But thanks to David Mundy, we'll be at least sixth.kosifantutti wrote:As I said last week, your ladder position doesn't matter after round 8 but it's good for bragging rights especially if we stay above the Tigers.

Three weeks ago we were three games and 45% behind Richmond. Now 2% ahead of them.
We were three games and 55% behind Geelong. We are now less than 6% behind them.

Re: Ladder Watch Round 8
There is only 1 win difference between 4th and 11th.
2 games between 4th and 14th.
Lose a game or two more than teams in this range and the Saints will plummet.
Optimistically we are 1 win (plus %) off first.
I looks like it will be a long and tough year to make the 8.
