Koby Stevens tackle
At the game I saw Koby Stevens tackle Nathan Wilson and Koby was awarded the free kick. An excellent tackle, no issue.
When I got home and watched the replay, all I heard were idiots commentators like Wayne Carey calling for Koby to be suspended for a crude tackle.
Given Mumford wasn't reported for his tackle last week, I'd hope Steven's doesn't have a case to answer. If he was sighted, I'd be inclined to take it to the tribunal and call the umpire as a witness. The umpire gave the free to Koby....if the tribuneral did suspend Koby, they'd effectively be acknowledging the umpires gross incompetance....and we know how often that happens...

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
Also Wilson came back on, so GWS medical report can ONLY state that he was stunned, not concussed...... however as the MRP does not review until Monday a nervous couple of days wait.
Media seemed to end up on the side of Koby, as in he did everything right, just a situation of bad luck that Wilson elected to hold the ball instead of dropping it and protecting himself .... F@rk it Wilson out for 2 reduced to 1 because he slammed his own head into the ground by not releasing the ball in a perfect tackle - hashtag it - get it trending

I think he's gone. Whether it's enough for a week, I don't know.

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
it was already decided by half time. The commentators, and fox footy studio boys had Koby issued for the electric chair monday.
No wonders the game shot when you get a week for that

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
Wilson had one arm free to protect himself and brace for the fall but chose to hold onto the footy instead. Don't think Stevens should be suspended when the player had the chance to protect himself and chose not to.

Significantly both arms are not pinned, and so player was not "helpless".kosifantutti wrote:I think he's gone. Whether it's enough for a week, I don't know.
''We acknowledge that it's not always easy in the heat of the moment to control the level of force,'' Anderson conceded. ''But what we say is 'unnecessarily dumping an opponent into the ground, particularly if he's got his arms pinned, or slinging him, will result in a free kick or should result in a free kick', and they [players] need to be aware of that.''

If he does get a week, do you reckon there's any chance the the AFL will acknowlegde the umpire made a blatant error by awarding the free to Koby?BigMart wrote:1 week

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
This is a problem with the "has beens" in the media attempting to convince themselves that they still have relevance.
Once their name is not being mentioned, they are history hence their "comments", which also get THEIR picture in the media.
What did Latham say?
A conga line of suck holes?

Wasn't Mumford's last week worse?

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
Nothing like the Mumford one - Libba took a dive and took Mumford with him..should not have been a free to Libba. Gets my goat when players dive for frees in the back. Should be prior opportunity and go against them
Borderline with Koby but we don't have a good record with MRP

Two action sling is his problem. Stopped him, and rotated him.
It will be sent to MRP

One arm free hanging onto the ball. No case to answer.

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
that was Steele on Ward. Great tackle, but for me the moment was Geary's tackle on Patton. Three great tackles all in the second.

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
The AFL has lost the plot, Koby was suspended by the Channel 7 producers.
At the very least, the AFL must admit the umpire made a huge error.

Re: Koby Stevens tackle
Great tackle! Cops a week? Well, let's move on and get ready for Carlscum without Koby. No sense in wasting energy and time on it. The boy will cop his whack, and come back for the Swans game.
