Yep, that did dissipate some of the gloomy cloud cover.

I can only speak for myself and say my issues are more long-term and about our game style and how tactically original Richo is. We still use Rooey in what I think is slightly unhealthy way that could stop Paddy's development. Do you get a good result today, but that impinges on our development tomorrow?

But I thought Richo outcoached clarko today stopping Hodge and Burgoyne who hawks rely on to slice teams up, owning the corridor etc. It was bold at the selection table to drop dunny and get Sincs and Stevens in and paid off. Coaches can develop and get better tactically. Thompson was almost cut from CAts and went on to be quite brilliant when he learnt some hard lessons so I'll give props to Richo when I see him develop tactically and structurally.

So where are we at. ITs so hard to tell. We beat the teams we should beat, but haven't got a big scalp yet. The Melbourne game was a fiddy-fiddy and we lost that.

Don't worry, us Grey skyer's are biding our time, ready to unleash our paniced negativity again once we sense a change in the weather. Hang on, I think I see some nasty fat GWS clouds coming our way.

But enjoy your day Jiggster and enjoy that glorious sunshine.

Rooey still plays up the ground a lot. Paddy is meant to be a full-forward.

There's no issues at all playing Roo as we do.

I think it was a good day for all saints, not just the blue skyers. Great win, but many of us, me included, tipped us to win this, so no great surprises there. Winning games against poor opposition is something we know we can do. The true test comes against the GWS next week. On our own dung heap. Then we'll have a better idea where we are. Enjoy the win.

For the last few years, the phrases "Hawthorn" and "percentage boost"
had a different meaning to today.
If you'd predicted this result, the men in white coats would be looking for you.
Today was fantastic, where the planets all lined up, and the team played as a team, were all switched on,
and were never worried about the occasion.

Looks like the travel hoodoo has been burnt at the stake.
I look forward to the Crows game.

For sure. Very happy but would have disappointed with a loss today.

Not hindsight; they are on the decline.

Happened to Brisbane in a similarly fashion.

We actually should have probably won by more than 100 points.

Lets not delude ourselves though, they are a rabble.

We still have plenty to work on but plenty to work with.

Not sure if we'll win but we'll be competitive on Friday night. We're not without a chance.

when did we beat the Lions by nearly 100 points, and Milney got 9 or 10 goals?
It wasn't very long after their cups era

Of course I'm a closet blue skyer. Like Charlie Brown I think it's going to finally happen every preseason. Been that way since the early 90's. Don't tell anyone though, Jiggster!

You don't come out when the guys have a big win, do you?
Seems like you only post after a loss.

On ya Jiggingsaint. If you look at the big picture, I'm not sure why some people are so pessimistic. We were wooden spooners only 3 years ago and are hoping for finals this year. Last year we still had some very heavy losses on the road and almost made the 8 anyway. This year we have improved in that area so far. No heavy losses and strong performances interstate. Not everything will go as planned, but quite a lot has! Just look at how many players we have traded for cheaply who are now critical members of the team? Membrey, Bruce, Weller, Steele, Stevens, Brown, Carlisle and Roberton. Geary and Sinclair were rookies. Someone is good at Moneyball!

So we play GWS with all their high draft picks and concessions this week. There's a good chance we'll lose but it's not the end of the world. We're loaded up with draft picks and have plans to trade for a "big fish" at the end of the year. Hopefully we use that to get some elite class in the midfield. Our defense looks very very strong. I don't think I've seen Jake get outmarked yet. Our forwards are not quite firing as hoped but it's a very talented and very young setup. I have no doubt that in time they'll be formidable.

Go saints!

Great win by the club and exceptionally well coached by Richo. Everything that was raised during the week Richo and the team answered. You have now set the bar consistency is the next hurdle, but congratulations.

Good win but as others at the game noted : Hawthorn were rabble
We went at 49% kicking efficiency for the match early in the last - that won't suffice against quality (just go back a week to last Qtr against Cats if you need a refresher).
I'll just keep it my pants for now....

Stevens is going be a very important cog in the midfield from now on
