Yes, Minch playing tomorrow. What he's saying is that Minch and Sincs are too good for VFL level but are played out of position as small forwards at AFL level and therefore are not allowed to show their full skill set.

Trevor barker oval and most suburban ovals are subject to fairly strong winds. Would probably effect the conversion rate

I thought Rice and White played solid games (HB line).
RIce is a warrior - too talented for the VFL level.

PIerce was impressive - did well in the ruck and around the ground took marks, combined in general play and got plenty of the ball. Holmes has been relegated to "relieving ruck"- It's quite obvious.
Pierce is ready for some AFL games.

The kicking in general into the forward/hf line was sloppy - Richmond were continually picking off the long errant kicks.

We were good in the air - with Marshall and McCartin - but lacked a good small crumbing forward to balance things out - like a Minchington or Lonie - so once the ball hit the turf we struggled.

Freeman got going late in the 2nd quarter onwards - he was quiet before that - and was on the ground for most of the game. Encouraging hit out from him.

McCartin got riled up at one stage and had his jumper ripped - he took on two Richmond defenders and held sway.

Thanks Sahomt. Love hearing about White and Rice - think we we badly need that good kicking ability to hit targets from the hb line. They both strike me as genuine footy players with the smarts to be effective in the game at the highest level.

Marshall keeps impressing. You can't help but get excited he could be that fwd/ruck option.

Angry Paddy (isn't that a Hungry Jacks burger?) - love it. Imagine in a few years with some serious muscle busting through defenders sending them skittering. Juicy goodness to come.

Sinclair keeps impressing with his numbers. That's all he can do. If the results aren't there in the seniors he will certainly be given a crack. And its encouraging that the Freeman keeps getting games under his belt. If nothing else I'm glad he is getting to play the game he is dedicated to.

Glad to report, Bluthy...
White shared the kickouts with Savage (who also played a great game) - which speaks volumes of his kicking ability.
Rice really sinks the boot into the ball - puts those chunky thighs of his to good use whenever he gets the chance.
I think he'll come into consideration soon - as he's very tough (AR will be noticing him).

RIce must have had a sore right ankle or calf at the end - as he played on with an ice pack inside his sock - but it didn't seem to bother him.

Long - nowhere near AFL yet.

The 21-year-old drew praise from VFL coach Lindsay Gilbee, who was impressed with his work rate and ability to get to contests across the four quarters.

“Paddy McCartin’s efforts today was really impressive. He got to a lot more contests and had to deal with a fair bit of opposition attention, but he still had an impact on the game for us,” Sandringham coach Lindsay Gilbee told saints.com.au.

“One of the great things about Paddy is that he always gives us a contest and it gives our midfielders confidence when they look inside 50 and see him there. He’s a key target who we rate very highly.

“We really liked the way Paddy and Marshall played together. Rowan kicked a couple of goals and worked hard for his eight marks, and we may be getting a glimpse of our future in attack there from a St Kilda point of view.”
