I know the year hasn't started the way we wanted to.

But I thought I would provide a hypothetical thread here as it appears that we love to live in hypothetical world on saintsational.
Especially around drafting (just read any of the McCartin/Petracca Billings/Bontempelli threads.

I guess I read a lot about our Midfielders, our high draft picks, umpires and even our Coach.

But the fact of the matter is our kicking for goal is crucifying us.

There are a lot of hypotheticals we could go with here, but this is the one I chose.

If we matched our opponents scoring efficiency each week. Where would we be?

Rd 1 Melbourne scored 18 - 12 - 120 @ 60%
We scored 13 - 12 - 90 @ 52%
Change that to 60% and we end up 15 -10 - 100 (20 point loss)

Rd 2 WCE Scored 18 - 8 - 116 @ 69%
Us 13 - 19 - 97 @ 41%
Change to 69% and we are 22 -10 -142 (26 point win)

Rd 3 Brisbane scored 11 - 10 -76 @ 52%
Us 14 - 23 - 107 @ 38%
Change to 52% and we are 19 - 18 - 132 (56 Point Win)

This would put us in 6th on the ladder with 8 points and a percentage of 120%

2 out of 3 wins in the first three rounds is where most of us would think we would be.

As we stand at the moment we have kicked 40 goals and 54 behinds for the year. Thats 43%.

That is not good enough.

I don't agree.


Accurate goal kicking might pinch you the odd game here and there, and we may be sitting at 2-1 instead of 1-2.


But watching all 3 games, there are far bigger issues than merely not being able to kick straight for goal.
