Though on the plus side it was still better than the Hawks winning.
The draw will make it easier for Hawthorn to climb ahead of the Dogs & Essendope should those teams falter.
Also makes it hard for Carlton and Collingwood to get back ahead of Hawthorn.

We're getting 1-3 out of Hawthorn.

So I don't really think the difference between 4-9 will really matter much will it?

Fortunately Freo knocked of North. This is the better result as North will not win enough games to get above the Hawks, but Freo may well do and in particular if they can knock off the Hawks when they play them in WA..

Bump!

Go Cats!

Nice to see the Hawks drop one after winning a few they weren't expected to win.

They still have a tough run home ... hopefully these close ones start to wear them down.

Well not that tough given the way they are playing at present, who they are actually playing and as they could have easily have won today.

Their last 3 are North, Blues and Dogs. Based on current form I would expect them to win all 3.

Freo in Freo. Hawks will probably win.

Swans in Melbourne. The Hawks is the Swans Bogey team. So again 50/50.

Tigers. 50/50.

They could actually win the lot!

I think that they are likely to win 4 or more, and at least three..

That would give them say10 wins and 1 draw.

I would currently think that they will finish about 12th giving us 7th pick in the draft. Nice, but no where near as exciting if they landed bottom 4.

If Freo knock them off it may be 13th, but I doubt now that the Hawks would finish any lower than 13th.

I can't see the Pies or Suns getting above them now given their fixtures. Plus both will have an interest in managed tanking to improve their first pick, which the Hawks do not have.

Based on form, they are 13th and all the teams they play bar Carlton and North are above them. By definition, that makes it a tough run. Yes, they could win all games but that doesn't really add anything does it because they could lose all as well.

Freo over there will be hard. Sydney are always hard. Tigers will be hard. Dogs should be hard. They will beat north and Carlton, who knows.

I think pick 4-6 but much will depend on Gold Coast and Freo, perhaps Collingwood depending on how today's game goes.

What is your definition of good?

Hawks play North, Blues and Dogs to finish the year off. So you would expect them to win 2 , and maybe 3.

Freo I cannot see winning anymore.

Pies, 1 maybe 2 wins.
Dees 1 to 3.
WC only 1 game.

So I think it is more likely that the Hawks will go up the ladder than down. Likely to finish thereabouts, but probably higher than 13th.

Saints need to win 2 games to be sure of finishing above them. Though pickwise it may not matter if we end up consecutive on the ladder,

At the end of the day, any extra first round pick is good, particularly a single figure pick!!!!!

I took one for the team on Sunday and went to watch the Hawks instead of the Saints. It may have involved free food and alcohol. But I knew it was destiny that brought me there when the Tigers introduced premiership hero Graham Burgin before the game. I was the only one who booed because he broke Ross Smith's arm in 1970.

That's a long time to hang onto that sort of anger and resentment, KFT. :D

After all the early excitement it appears I will be correct in a very early post suggesting that the Hawks 1st pick will be later than ours. This is not hind sight just knowledge built on many years of following the Saints.

With the Blues win, as long as the saints have at least one more win the Hawks cannot finish above us.

If Hawks lose next week and Pies win, which is quite possible, the hawks could finish with so that we gain pick 6 rather than pick 7 from them.

Pies could jump ahead of Hawks.
