The decision of our recruiters to draft McCartin instead of Petracca will haunt us for the next 15 years.

I think McCartin is still a little too early in his career (especially for a tall) to be making that call, but given our dire lack of midfield class, it will certainly be a talking point for quite a while yet.

Until we have an administration that demands success and a playing group that bleeds for the guernsey, St. Kilda will just be a sh*tty football club.

Paddy may be a good player... in the mould of Tex Walker

Petracca (who has missed a full season with an acl
Will be an absolute gun

Could one day be a top 5 player in the afl

The thing about Christian Petracca is his disposal. He can kick and handball both sides. We only have one player on our list who can do this. He is the oldest player on our list and was our best yesterday. The one thing you can say about Paddy is that he is woefully unfit and has been since the day he arrived at the club. He is still just 20 but I fear he may lack the work ethic required. On the other hand, if his diabetes is the inhibitor then that is back on the selection group in 2014. Hindsight can be 20/20, but I would always pick a skilled, tall midfielder in the modern game.

My OP is not a knock on McCartin by the way. I'm knocking the recruiters.

Agreed. We lost the plot last night on set shots. I'd give anything to be able to correct it.

Yep. Any one of Weller's (at least the early two) could have steadied the ship. But, no.

I'll give Steele a first game pass, and he otherwise showed good effort.

It is very hard fora slow small forward to be succesful at AFL level.

Twice yesterday Lonie was easily run down when he was 10 m in the clear.

Speaking of small forwards, what about the Gresh? I thought he looked really dangerous a few times. That over-the-shoulder goal was incredible. Surely a goal of the year nomination?

Still prefer McCartin easily. He will be a fantastic key forward and provide structure to build around. Melbourne are obviously a year ahead of where we are why else would they take a 32 year old.

True. if our kicking wasn't so woeful, we still would have held a 2 or 3 goal lead at halftime. It may have been a different game.

Our team was far older than there's. We are the 8th eldest team this week. Melb's average age is a whole year younger.

You idiot, CW. We needed a key forward for when Roo retires. It was a pragmatic selection.

Time to start thinking before posting this Captain Obvious-type garbage.

Way too early for Mc Cartin to state that.

Yep playing Brown while Goddard develops Gilbert while White Geary while McKenzie and so on. We too could grab a gun 30+ year old and be better.

I think this is a hysterical response to be honest...

A guy ran around in the midfield unchecked whilst his team dominated... remind me, how great was he in the first quarter

And Paddy written off after missing the game.

Ppl need to get a grip
