elizabethr a bit anxious about Armo- another month away. Could use him at the moment, he can't play till Round 18? bugger
Turf toe for Hugh; Sandilands was out for nearly a whole season when he got it

What's with the Minchington one? That is just dumb player management. Disappointing.

yeah, why let him come back on, it's not like the Zebs are winning games at the moment
shoulda benched him to minimise damage.
Who's the medical staff at the Zebs, the Doc from Back to The Future?

absolutely unbelievable

We should promote Marshall for Hughie. I thought every club could promote one player at the halfway point of the season anyway.

According to Dinny Meatball is a dynamic forward, hence the willlingness tiger him back on the field for Sandy.

saints to announce some bad news for Meatball, his injury is worse now

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2017-06-3 ... inchington

The 23-year-old is expected to be sidelined for approximately eight weeks
after sustaining the injury in Sandringham’s loss to Coburg at Trevor Barker Beach Oval in Round 10 of the VFL
.

so why make him go back onto the ground after he hurt the ankle in the first qtr?

That's a joke. The club's medicos are as qualified as the recruiting staff. Minchy goes alright and the last thing he needs is to have career ankle problems like Daisy Thomas has had. Not a good sign to need surgery for ligament damage. Must have injured it pretty badly by going back on the field to play in a nothing game.

I am glad that Paddy has been advised he is on the slow burn. If he can get his fitness base up and still keep learning the 'St Kilda' way - we should have him for a long time. There is no need to rush him back as we seem to have the resources for 2017 - it is the longer term that we need to be looking at.

I'm feeling really positive about Paddy.

Positive we need to base our future team without him and move on. IF and it's a massive IF he can ever string some games together and fits into our structure (which he currently doesn't) then treat that as a bonus.

Hopefully Battle comes good.

Armo returning if he gets through his test- via VFL
Rice- test after bone bruising to play VFL
Longer - Test

Gilbo- 3-4 after knuckle pop
Paddy - 2 -3 weeks

interesting to hear the Melburne management of Brayshaw- 4 concussions in 2 years being praised bUt the saints management of Paddy is almost derided.

Lewie not mentioned again either by saints or AFL

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-07-18/t ... t-round-18

Estimated Return

David Armitage Groin TBC
Nick Coughlan Hamstring TBC
Sam Gilbert Hand 3-4 weeks
Hugh Goddard Foot Season
Billy Longer Hamstring Test
Paddy McCartin Concussion Indefinite
Tim Membrey Suspension Available round 19
Darren Minchington Ankle 4-6 weeks
Bailey Rice Calf Test
Updated: Monday, July 17
Early prognosis

Geary suffered a knock to the quad against Essendon but the tough skipper is expected to be fit for Saturday night's clash against Sydney at the SCG. Longer would likely come straight back in if he proves his fitness after suffering a corkie against Richmond in round 16. Rice copped a heavy corkie of his own in the VFL and missed the second half, so is in some doubt to come up this weekend. – Dinny Navaratnam

Joey hammy worse than expected

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/leigh- ... 1500895753
Montagna limped off the SCG in the third quarter of Saturday night’s loss to Sydney. Scans on Monday revealed that the tear was worse than a more standard three-week injury.

With just five weeks left in the 2017 season and the Saints at real risk of missing the finals, it could mean the 287-gamer may not play again, as Montagna has previously stated he will weigh up retirement this season.

“We’re still really hopeful we’ll get him back before the home and away season is done and dusted.

“It’s slightly worse (than a 21-day hamstring injury), possibly around a month. It does depend a little bit now on how they respond, but it’s a bit more than we would have hoped.

“But there is still an opportunity for him to get back before the end of the year.”

I'm worried that Lewie may have thrown the towel in.

I've just returned from a long evening shift and too tired to look up news on Lewis Pierce.
Please indulge me. How long ago did he hurt himself and what happened?

Don't know. The club has said nothing for weeks. Not playing anywhere and not on injury list.
