Tom out for 6 but no surgery

ST KILDA ruckman Tom Hickey will miss up to six weeks after suffering a medial ligament injury in his left knee while playing in the VFL on Saturday afternoon.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Incumbent ruckman Billy Longer racked up 48 hit-outs in the Saints' upset Friday night win against Greater Western Sydney in what Richardson described as "probably Billy's best game for our footy club" after the match.

St Kilda sits in eighth spot at 4-3, with hard-hitting forward Mav Weller expected to return from a rolled ankle this week.

Tough onballer David Armitage is recovering from groin surgery while young forward Josh Battle is dealing with bone bruising in his left knee.

Amateur Hour again at the Saints. No mention of Webster. How the hell could Coxy forget him? It's not like we have a big injury list. Piss poor.

They said in an article on the website a few days ago Jimmy should be right to go after the bye. But yes, a progress report would be nice ...

Armitage hernia !!!
Must be an inguinal hernia down there.

When I had the operation it was few months before it felt fine again.
I would have thought with the stresses footballers go through he would not get to play again this season.

Richo in his post match interview said Armitage was going to have more surgery and would miss maybe 6 to 8 weeks.
He may have just had that surgery.

Terrible news for Armo. Coxy suggested he would be running within weeks. I did find that a bit hard to believe, but fingers crossed for him.

They never mention
Roo- knee (test) but he always seems to have trouble during a game,
can't really turn and change direction all that well.
And that pic after the game, where one son is stretching next to him,
Roo has a nice big icepack on the left knee

When was the last time you saw Roo without icepacks on his knees after a game.
Years ago I suspect.

ST KILDA star midfielder David Armitage will be sidelined for at least another month after undergoing a second round of surgery to resolve adductor issues that have plagued his season.

The 28-year-old has only managed two appearances in 2017 and hasn't played since round four after having adductor release surgery at the end of April.

This time Armitage's operation was on a hernia.

Saints football manager Jamie Cox said Armitage would miss from four to six weeks after the latest surgery.

"Dave has been having a bit of an issue in the groin-adductor area.

Jimmy Webster remains a chance to return from a broken hand against Adelaide in Round 12.

Nick Riewoldt is another in contention to face Adelaide as he strives to overcome bone bruising to his left knee.

Both Tom Hickey and Nathan Wright should return from injury when Sandringham meets Collingwood at Victoria Park on Saturday (12.00pm).

The other key Saint on the injury list heading into the mid-season bye is David Armitage who, as indicated last week, is expected to return later in the year after surgery to repair a hernia.

“Dave we’re hoping will play some really strong footy at the back end of the season for us,” Cox said.

“But at this stage we’ve got to wait another two or three weeks to get Dave up and about and running again, and until then it’s difficult to put a definite time-frame on him.”
