Midfield a worry - Ross Dunstan Stevens Armo all in the same side won't do it for us.

Can see why Stevens did not play many games for the other 2 clubs he was at
Newnes for a good kick turns it over more than most
Dunno which game you were watching, but I thought Dunstan was among our best.

We sprayed a lot of kicks, too many, but other than that a lot to like.

Lonie 6 disposals
Steele 5 possies but I think he went off at half time and Gresham came on then and had 8
I think Jackie boy went off at half time but had 21 possies
Hickey wasn't very good.

Bad positional kicking, as usual.

A lot to work on still, unfortunately, but the season is still 5 weeks away.

It's the only game this year we have to go on and some players weren't up to it tonight.

Hopefully they'll play some newbies next week.

I'm happy that you're positive with their performance tonight - what did we do after quarter time?

Sorry but I'm hoping for a bit more than that

Did I say Dunstan was poor tonight..we cannot carry too many of the same slow mids that don't make things happen

And give Ed Philips a run in one of the two remaining games.

Yep - very happy with Luke, some great tackling, and for a super slow mid, he didn't do too badly when he burst out of that centre clearance...
forget exactly when, but somewhere in the 3rd or last q

Hickey had a shocker, Lonie really looks lost at AFL level.

Roberton, Steven, Carlisle, Dunstan and Membrey all looked.

Koby and Steele will take sometime to adapt to our style of game and will both be in our best 22 come Round1

Agree, Dunstan was great tonight. Definitely top 3 IMO.

Jack Steven I think was benched at half time, didn't see him after that and finished on 21 disposals (his half time tally). Explains the second half stutters, though his disposal efficiency was very ordinary (55ish percent)

Thought Jakey did alright tonight as well. Billings was alright too. Hickey seemed better than Longer? Neither were very solid though. Gilbo had a shocker night with his kicking. Entries inside 50 were horrible.

All in all can't take too much away from tonight unfortunately.

After first 10 mins - Horrid

A few positives - Dunstan, Billings, Roberton, Membrey (Early), some Carlisle moments

Not much else

Negatives

Game Style was bizarre

Kicking laughable, fumbled a lot... same culprits with turnover

McCartiin, started well, ran out of puff and in the end a witches hat, Savage bombing it, Hickey looked preppy.

In a nutshell - underwhelming after 4 months of pre season training

You're being more negative than anyone's being positive with your look at me over the top post.

You're carrying on a bit.

I'm really pleased with that hit out.

I like it how we played our proper game at the start and then went into slow down CBF mode. Perfect way to play your first praccy match.

Ideally, your first practice match should only be at about 50%. It's meant to be sloppy, slow and lacking pizzaz.

I only really care about JLT 3 - that's the game where we need to be at 80% real season match simulation

Well one thing that hasnt changed is some of our kickouts out of defence.

Perhaps Richo need to drag some of these players for a please explain. Its either a brain fade or laziness. If were even to be a top 4 side this is unacceptable. I don't believe its from lack of skills and more a case of spending the ball before weve got it. Planning for our second move before our first move is completed and being to blasé about it.

Some of those kickins are costing us big time with the ball being locked in defence and all out efforts and time to try and get it out again.

A simple drag and please explain might start to sort it out

I never saw the game, but it sounds like we need to introduce some speed. Freeman and Long would be too of our speedier players, and need to be blooded in the JLT series, fitness allowing..

I haven't seen the game, but according to the stats...Gresham had 8 disposals of which 5 were free kicks. Did they go after him ?

Yep, and Dunstan got the team high for fantasy points too, if you rate that as a measurement.

He had 5 tackles and most of the 5 free kicks were for those tackles. He only played the 2nd half.
