I'm watching the Melbourne v bulldogs game and have noticed a few guys with tape behind the ear. G Healy mentioned briefly something about concussion. Is it a device that measures the shock during impact? Does it measure something else?

They have been banging on about the tape all week. Some commentators have said that it was a listening device for the coaches to talk to the senior players, but SEN have reported that there is a measuring implement either under the tape, or in the ear, secured by the tape, that measures shock impact.
It would be interesting to see the readings if Caleb Daniels was wearing one.

item in newspaper today and was being reported last week during the AFLW games
Noted the small amount of game time I watched a short while ago mentioned it
they are beginning some monitoring for concusssion in conjunction with Monash Medical centre.

A tiny sensor that's also found in every iphone and android.
Called an "accelerometer", and it records movement/GForces.
Probably linked by bluetooth to the GPS data recorder in the raised patch between the shoulder blades.
