Hot Cross Bun.
Our best jumper, ever, IMHO. Maybe the memories of the 97 GF are still too painful.

I agree 100%.

I loved that jumper.

It had style and oozed class.

Best looking jumper in the competition by far.

I was terribly dissappointed when it was ditched.
Sigh... The '97 Granny.... SIGH... (Looks out the window... far into the distance... glazed eyes... )
One of the worst days of my life.

This is a real statement. Next gen - you are the now gen. No more hiding behind the oldies. You've got enough years and games under you belt - time to step up and take the reigns fully. Exciting but also a bit scary. Rooey, Joey, Lenny etc have been so rock solid as players and leaders. We'll find out exactly what these new guys we've invested in are made of.

Apart from being official mentors for other (younger) players what are the other roles of the leadership group? Are they guaranteed to be picked each week if fit? Do they get more money? Do they provide another level of consultation between coaches, club and players. It seems most players get a look in with the sponsors so I wouldn't think of them as the faces of the club. There must be quite a commitment of time that causes some to withdraw from the group. Do they do much more than any player with leadership qualities might do, or is it recognition of those qualities and the additional leadership already shown?
Does a leadership group create two levels among the playing group?
Sorry about the dumb questions

Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya chances. Membership of the leadership group comes with no guarantees. If you're good enough, you'll play. As it should be.

Nick on Jarryn
http://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/1 ... da-captain
He may not have the aura and profile of a Luke Hodge, but new St Kilda captain Jarryn Geary is the perfect man to lead St Kilda into a new era, ex-skipper Nick Riewoldt says.

Geary, who has played 141 games after starting his career as a rookie, has been announced as Saints captain following Riewoldt's decision to step down from the role having led the club for 11 seasons.

Riewoldt -- who, along with Leigh Montagna and Sean Dempster also withdrew from the Saints' leadership group -- said Geary was a standout choice to step up to the role.

He added the time was right for a younger group to take ownership of the team.

Good work Robbo
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/t ... f9fd924e22

Dylan that is
Roberton has become a mainstay of the Saints defence, playing at least 18 games in three of his four seasons at Seaford.

The 102-gamer said he was thrilled to support captain Jarryn Geary in a fresh-faced leadership group as the Saints look to improve on last year’s 12 wins and ninth-place finish.

The former Docker said coach Richardson has “got better and better” directing the players each season.

“I’m really happy with the way the club is going,” Roberton said.

“I wanted to come home (to Victoria) more from the family point of view.

“But it is a very exciting time for us.”
