Post: # 1650262Post ChrisRyanSaints »

Very clear we need to draft backman.
We will lose montagna, dempster gilbert and geary over 30.

2019 Team
Webster. H.Goddard Geary.
DMacKenzie Carlisle. Roberton
Acres Fyfe. BWhite
Weller. Bruce. Billings.
NFreeman McCartin. Membrey

Hickey. Steven. S.Ross

Gresham Newnes J.Steele. KStevens

Seconds
FB: ????? ???????? ????????
CHB: Savage ???????? BRice
NOK. Minchington. B.Long
NWright. Marshall
Lonie Battle. JHolmes.

BLonger, L.Dunstan, JSinclair

Ed Phillips LPierce. Joyce Connelan

I fear we will lose Lonie Sinclair and Dunstan due to depth. 3 very good players but they wont stick around for 6 games a year when theybcould get 22 somewhere else.

After we get superstar mid (fyfe martin or upgrade draft pick) we will be concentrating on backmen youd think. Unless the irishmen or coughlan stand up?? But i doubt it.

How do others see the 2019 team? Long way and who knows who will step up. But looks like theyll be talented small forwards and at least one decent mid will be pushed out unfortunetly

I've got good hopes for Ricey. I think he's got a bit about him. Maybe takes Gears place. We probably would be looking at drafting/trading a really classy young key back. We can't be sure about Goddard yet, Coughlan still a rookie, Marshall might be another option. We hope Carlisle will be good for 6 or 7 years but he's already had some injuries. Robbo has the height but would need to bulk up a bit to be that third tall key back. The thing is give yourself good cover and options which we seem to be doing well all over the field. So another good young key back would flesh out our new backline options.

STill need to see how Mckenzie goes as a running half back option too. Those line breakers are becoming so important. White can really drill it and has a bit of zip. Savage needs to hit up more targets to add to his run and long kicking. But maybe we could look for a genuine speedster in the JJ mold.

They obviously have hopes still for JBT. One thing he is is bloody tough.

There's 2 drafts between now and the 2019 season not including new players coming to the club through trading and free agency.

Think the list might be a but different in 2019.

I think we just concentrate on 2017 and let the list managers worry about the future.

Still a chance Rice can be a lock down like Geary.
I think we are ok if one of Goddard or Coughlan is any good.
B White and Webster are handy.
Might be nice to get another good young tall running defender in the next two draftsls though.
Certainly not panic stations yet.

2019? I'm more concerned about the 2029 team!

Quite like that.

Best HB line I have ever seen. Has a commanding presence.

But you will never get Bob Hawke to play back pocket. Full Forward kicking goals and taking the limelight or nothing.

Question: Could Bradman Captain that team?

Nothing better than a good Dad Joke.

I think Caesar would want to be Captain. So might God. Then off the Half Forward line you would have Boneparte, Stalin, and Hitler. All wanting the Captaincy.
Only fair thing, recall Roo.

Tonald "I am God" Drump on a half back flank leading his Right Wing religious nutters!

Now that must be serious fake reporting?

The club won't be using a crystal ball for 2019. They will be crunching all the number over and over again for that year as 2019 will be the moon landing scheduled date. We could pinch one early but the rough working schedule will be finals this year, top four next year, red hot flag attempt year after. So they will be thinking a lot about how they want the team in 2019 to be able to win in the last and toughest game of footy for the year. They'll want to get x numbers of games into White and Mckenzie to be effective, Goddard and Carlisle working together for a couple of year ideally to get a solid partnership, Billings injury free, the ruck situation worked out, Paddy the size the want him to split packs but still be agile enough, have our midfield crystalised and working as unit.

You don't rely on luck or fate for these things. It's all gotta be planned to the nth degree to land that fragile little ship on a moving target in just the right way at just the right time.

At least we're not Richmond. 35 years into a five "decade" plan.

We've just entered our 6th decade without a flag. I totally agree with what you're all saying by the way. Hopefully it's an amazing few years of footy ahead.
