If Fyfe gets made captain I couldn't see him moving the next year. Maybe Freo just give it to him to keep him.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
The more I hear people say they want Fyfe to stay, and he's staying put, the more I think he will be on the move. A bit like politics- the party is totally behind our man, and the next thing, he gets the chop

Bit of smoke around. WE could be pitching a huge, huge offer to Mr Fyfe. He will probably want to hear it just so he can leverage it against Freo's first offer. If he doesn't get captaincy, I wonder if he'll get very stroppy tee-hee.Do you expect Dustin Martin and Nat Fyfe to remain at Richmond and Fremantle respectively?
JP: I would be surprised if both men don't remain at their current clubs. Martin did not want to leave in 2013 when he effectively was dragged by his agent to meet with Greater Western Sydney officials in Sydney. The Tigers insist the latest round of contract negotiations aren't on hold until the end of the season. Martin is a restricted free agent, so the Tigers could match any offer. As for Fyfe, he turned down a seven-year offer from a rival club in 2014 to stay, and says a deal will be "sorted" out this year with the Dockers. He is also a restricted free agent.
DC: I think Martin will stay, and get the sense that the stalling is just posturing from his agent Ralph Carr. However if the Tigers have a poor season Martin would be more likely to leave, so it's important Richmond can sell hope for the future. I'm less convinced about Fyfe, with strong murmurings that St Kilda have prepared a "war chest" to land the Brownlow medallist.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
I seem to recall BJ saying the same thing back in 2012. From memory, we were also looking to dangle a proverbial carrot (captaincy) in front of him in order to renew his contract at St.Kilda. Make no mistake, the Fyfe rumours will continue to circulate throughout the season, unless he puts pen to paper with the Dockers to quash it all. Only time will tell on whether he'll stay or go. I don't know about you, but I'm quite content to sit back and watch this all unfold. Let the Freo faithful do all the fretting for us!Bluthy wrote:http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/f ... u2wcp.html

A lot of defeatist language coming from Rosco about Fyfe.
I reckon we could possibly offer the greatest deal to Fyfe in AFL history - beating the Buddy & Boyd deals. We have been paying under the cap for several years which I think means we can then pay over the cap for several years. We have had vets on big wages retiring regularly. And apart from Steven who is elite, we don't yet have the next batch of elite players to pay at an elite level. In fact we've probably overpaid a lot of players so don't need to ramp up salaries yet. Guys like Paddy and Billings still need to provide 3 years or so of really consistent AFL footy to demand the huge pay packets. Money talks very, very loudly.

I think he will stay unless the players hate him as much as figjam was in his first year of skipper.samoht wrote:He's turning the Dockers into his fiefdom.Jacks Back wrote:Fyfe named Fremantle skipper
Maybe the Dockers are just throwing everything they have got to keep him.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
Mmmmm. Chances of getting Fyfe dropped a bit there. Its not unheard of for a skipper to leave a club (Griffen, Colbert) but being a WA boy, huge marketing asset and now captain for only 1 year, gunna make it hard to chisol him out. At least we can force Freo to have to pay an insane salary for him and Rosco will be forced to use his bargain c-graders as his bottom six again. I still remember McQualters miss from 15 out with an open goal in the grannie. I still remember....
They'll be working hard on Dusty I reckon. Big, big offer coming his way.

Anyone know which FA are available at the end of 2018?

Ain't leaving, never was
Media drives opinions in footy... basically tells people what to think by developing the story
They have no cap issues other than having plenty
He is a leader and perhaps going to be their best ever player
He is from WA
Why would he join StK? Or worse Carlton??

We all know that Freo won't win a premiership in the next few years. Probably a good enough reason for him to leave. He says he wants to play in a Premiership. If Freo miss the finals this year then he's definitely gone.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
Forget Fyfe.
I am very keen on Kelly. Surely we chase him?
Here is why:
1) Gun player and the exact player we are crying out for
2) Local boy for us
3) First class citizen
4) Perfect age for our group
5) We have cap room
6) GWS are facing a salary cap log jam that we can exploit

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
I know, loris! I fly out on Sat the 23rd - the Sts will have either made the GF the night before or will be playing that day(if I have my AFL schedule right). The following Saturday I will be halfway to Everest Base Camp if the trek schedule is going as planned. There is WiFi up there too so might even be able to follow the GF. stevie, if we win the GF, I would expect nothing less than for you to leave Base Camp, and in your Fyfe boots clamber to the summit and firmly plant the Saints Tri colour at the top of the worldstevie wrote:I know, loris!
