Great news.
If it was to be fyfe, I for some reason believe he would still only be the second most demanding leader at the club by some margin. The boys are used to it.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
Well it appears that the plan is to offer Freo more than they'd get in compensation. Would still need to be quite a trade.
Freo may just hold on because they may fancy their chances of keeping him.
They'd have to get our first pick without question, then what?
Freo would probably want Acres or Ross, which makes it a high risk transaction. High risk, because Acres & Ross are guns in the making, whilst Fyfe is coming off a second broken leg.

Confirmed: Nathan Burke said Nat Fyfe is a big fish and 17 clubs would be interested. Wow!

No to any deal that involves trading Acres, who may be the next Fyfe.Linton Lodger wrote: Freo would probably want Acres or Ross, which makes it a high risk transaction. High risk, because Acres & Ross are guns in the making, whilst Fyfe is coming off a second broken leg.
Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
The tone suggested he would test FA when his contract expires end of next year. So no trade would be required? I think it would take a massive Freo turn around for him to stay put, or perhaps a Judd-esque outside deal with Woodside to pay him overs.

if fyfe is going free agency expect freo to win the spoon and take picks one and two.

Fyfe loves driving huge road trains, flies choppers, and loves getting back to the family farm when he can.
The family farm is in rural WA.
Not much chance of him leaving WA. Ever.

I doubt he gets out there much during the season, its not really that close. With the money all these teams will be offering he could live there indefinitely.WellardSaint wrote:Fyfe loves driving huge road trains, flies choppers, and loves getting back to the family farm when he can.

Was just saying exactly the same thing today . The thought of Fyfe and Acres playing together is delicious.bigcarl wrote:No to any deal that involves trading Acres, who may be the next Fyfe.Linton Lodger wrote: Freo would probably want Acres or Ross, which makes it a high risk transaction. Some may remember that I called this a couple of months ago, when I shared that the club had a big bodied A Grade mid on top of its EOY recruitment list.
Everyone came at me!
I can now share that yes Nate was always one of two the club has its sights on.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
Just to be clear if Fyfe chooses to go to Saints as a Free Agent at the end of 2017 and Freo don't match our $$$ offer we get him without having to trade anything whatsoever.
Unless we agree to deal with Freo like Geelong did with Adelaide for Dangerfield in which case we would negotiate a trade however ball would be in our court as it was Geelongs who gave up a first round pick essentially.

Now there's preliminary talk about NF, can someone refresh me exactly what the injury history that's kept him out of the game this year?

A fractured leg. It was the same leg he broke in the PF last year against Hawthorn.st.byron wrote:Now there's preliminary talk about NF, can someone refresh me exactly what the injury history that's kept him out of the game this year?

Hmmmmm. Prognosis anyone?
Not a great history of players returning to their best after a broken leg.

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
There's a big difference between a fracture and snapping the bones (like the Nathan Brown/Gary Lyon/ Jake Stringer clean break of fib and tibea). I'm not a doctor but I'd guess that the double break is more serious and takes longer to heal and therefore longer for players to get back to full fitness

What happened to Fyfe? A fracture or snapped bone/s?

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
Fractured his fibula in the prelim last year against Hawthorn. He was rested in rounds 22 and 23 iirc because of inflammation and hotspots similar to shin splints. So basically they risked him even though he was'nt ready. He had surgery last year but instead of again letting it heal naturally, they inserted a plate and tried to get him playing footy in the early rounds of 2016. I believe it was in round 5 against Carlton that the same bone was refractured.st.byron wrote:Scollop wrote:There's a big difference between a fracture and snapping the bones (like the Nathan Brown/Gary Lyon/ Jake Stringer clean break of fib and tibea). You'd think that with the plate in there it may have been worse than the first time but it's still less serious imo than snapping the bones. The realisation that they weren't going to be playing finals after going zero-10 meant that they ruled him out for the season and he'll wait until the plate is out at the end of this year before preparing fully for 2017
What people forget is that the Dockers were playing shitful footy even with Fyfe in the team earlier this year. Ross Lyon has a massive job trying to keep him at the club imo. I reckon he'll be playing for Melbourne with the MCG as his home ground with Hogan traded to the Dockers. Hope I'm wrong and hope the footy gods help get him to the Sainters

Re: Confirmed: Saints Want Fyfe Player for Marching Band
According to the Herald ...the Suns are offering their 2 first rounders and a player for Mr Fyfe.
GOLD Coast made an audacious play to lure Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe to the Gold Coast.
The draft pick rich Suns have offered two first-round picks and potentially another player to Fremantle to get the deal done either in this year’s trade period or next year when Fyfe becomes a restricted free agent.
Gold Coast currently have two picks in the top 10 in this year’s draft, plus whatever they receive for out-of-contract midfielder Dion Prestia who wants out of the Suns and is believed to have nominated Richmond as his destination of choice.
