ST KILDA’s signing spree continued today with livewire forward Jack Lonie extending his contract by a year until the end of the 2017 season.
The prodigiously talented left-footer impressed during 17 games in his debut season and was nominated for the AFL’s Rising Star Award in round 14.
Having signed for the mandatory two years after he was drafted with pick no.41 in the 2014 National Draft, the 19-year-old said he was delighted to put pen to paper for an additional year.
“I’ve loved every bit of my first year at the club,” Lonie told SAINTS.com.au.
“Re-signing was a no-brainer because I couldn’t be happier at the Saints. We are building something special with a young and exciting list and I’m committed to being a part of a successful future.

That's good news if it goes ahead, positively for us.
Every interview I see/read with young Gresh, he mentions Brent Harvey & the influence he has on him. By all accounts, he even has been ringing Harvey this season to get his ideas/guidance about certain aspects of his game etc.
Don't want Brent Harvey getting into his ear too much do we?
Tho' I'll admit that wiley old veteran could no doubt give him a lot of good advice on playing the game.
St Kilda has re-signed emerging young ruckmen Lewis Pierce and Billy Longer, tying the pair to the club until at least the end of 2018.
With Tom Hickey enjoying a breakout season, the Saints boast a deep, talented ruck department with Pierce, Longer and Jason Holmes all sharing the ruck responsibility at Sandringham.
St Kilda Chief Operating Officer & Legal Counsel Ameet Bains says the club is thrilled to secure the pair’s services for a further couple of years.
“We’re really pleased to be able to lock down two talented young ruckmen who have significant scope for improvement,” Bains told saints.com.au on Tuesday night.
“Competition for the No. 1 ruck spot is fierce, which has been highly beneficial for all involved. With all fit ruckmen striving to play senior football, the results speak for themselves this season.”
