I was more than interested in getting an interview as I had plenty of ideas for the further development of the AFLBigpond website using useful content that is already available but not being used, amongst other things. In my cover letter I explained that I would be more than happy to discuss my ideas even if I didn't get the job. I got an unsigned thanks/but no thanks email for my trouble.
too much information for them maybe Peanut !
I won't say any more than ... there are peanuts ... and there are Peanuts.
Dissappointing....particularly that they did not at least talk to the Peanut as for my money WOM is the best Saints site around...and probably the best football site around.

I posted when the add was put of SS that the job seamed to all about facilitating the site....rather than on getting content.

You can havea great site that is not slick but is great due to having great content.

But you cannot have a great site that is finctionally the best interenet site around but has crap content.

I'm not quite sure by the posts in this thread, whether it is an independent site along the lines of Essendon one, or simply another premium service offered by Bigpond?

Anyone have a straight answer without all the appeals of a call to arms against the persecuting masses down at AFL House

it looks like a fully independant site to me.....if so, Peanut should've been involved.....be interesting to know why he isn't.

Anyway, perhaps we will still run saints.com.au for a season parallel to the new site, and then phaze out saints.com.au provided saintscentral is a success.

ie. take a baby step/each way bet.

not such a bad strategy IMO.

Possible, the membership brochure doesn't make it explicit whether it is run in conjunction with the AFL. I was curious so I did a WHOIS lookup using www.dnsstuff.com

The actual site is not registered under St Kilda's name but the AFL, and the contact details refer to Tony Abate (AFL's IT manager).
This doesn't mean it wont be operated independently from Bigpond/AFL, nor does it mean that the site wont be capable of delivering a user-friendly interface with valuable content. But it is certainly an ominous sign.

It would be nice to have a site like http://www.essendonfc.com.au/main.asp that was as quick to load, as easy to navigate and had as much accessible content as possible.

It is very disappointing they won't incorporate any of the WoM ideas or formats.

I don't even bother looking at the official site anymore.
It is too hard to navigate.
Too slow to refresh.
Too late with news.
Too sanitised.
