It was interesting reading in the Membership material about the new official Club website - looks like the Club may be a bit fedup, as I am, with the the inefficient, pathetic AFL/Telstra run Saints.com.

Peanut, as an expert in the field, do you know any more about SaintsCentral as it is not online yet? Incidently, did you apply for the Club job??

Come on she can do better than him...

I haven't gotten around to reading the new membership brochure but I may have to, it seems people are getting some pretty interesting info from it...

I see what you mean!

But I can't get onto the "correct" one, is the link down or is it just my work being stingy?

westaway made a big deal about getting rid of the silly little telstra-run website and also mentioned it too was the clubs fault that nothing was done to improve it

he also said in no un-certain terms that the website as it was now was shithouse

Can you blame him, it was an absolute disgrace...
I just hope this new offering can be atleast competative with WoM...
What I am really hoping for is a half decent photo gallery like they have on the Essendon official website...

Best thing the club has done in 100 years.

Essendon not only make money from their website, they have attracted fans through it.

You can be a "web" member of Liverpool. The premier league and NFL are streets ahead in the use of the internet.

But saintscentral.com.au is looking good to catch us up somewhat.

Good this is we are LEADING with this initiative. Innovative. Forward thinking.

Huge thumbs up to whoever is behind this at the club.

I believe it will be up and running in a few weeks time - they haven't finished creating it yet, so the link won't work for a while.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

So will there be a type of membership to the site which requires payment?
If so sounds like a good idea....
I would expect that they would have a message board aswell, although there probably isn't much use as Saintsational is probably too strong...

According to the membership booklet you will have to register, but the content is free.

I don't know about Saints Central - but the job description stated that they are aiming to have the best AFL/Bigpond club website. After considerable thought I decided to put my name in the ring by drafting an application addressing the criteria. I was more than interested in getting an interview as I had plenty of ideas for the further development of the AFLBigpond website using useful content that is already available but not being used, amongst other things. In my cover letter I explained that I would be more than happy to discuss my ideas even if I didn't get the job. I got an unsigned thanks/but no thanks email for my trouble.

I wouldn't mind it if membership got you instant access, but I also wouldn't mind 10$ for people who aren't members...

But cheapskates would still just come on here to find out what they're missing...

i'm thinking that the telstra site will stay ....with its obligations and as a face saver for telstra & dimmy.....and good for the 'supporter'

a seriously policed members only site ....would encourage more members wouldn't it ?

if they were smart , peanuts ideas would be harnessed
plenty of ideas for the further development of the AFLBigpond website using useful content that is already available but not being used, amongst other things.
which then improves the 'supporters' lot in life

who then develop their passion until they wanna be a member

everyones winning

that was an interesting post mate.....

i'd be hoping the club is looking for every oppurtunity to 'stake our independance'

and would be pissed off , if they weren't

surely dimmy would be on the back foot trying to stop us having a members only website....besides that , eff dimmy .....may as well upset him a bit more

gee you're good, you don't know what this saints central thing is, yet you basically make you're mind up that it can't be any good, and that the club are laying down to Dimwit and the AFL and we are giving up our independance and the new board are the same as the last lot....the more i read on this site the more i can see why the club would want to do something that was different....some of you guys have a real problem and its about time you got over it and got behind the club...this negative s*** is why we have been where we have been for too long...its about time you let it go IMHO...

Our best is yet
to come......
