4 Players for pick 26!!!!!!! :) WOW!!!!

Post: # 473989Post saintsRrising »

Well so far we have effectively gained:

Schneider
King

with 2 " bonus" player in Charlie Gardiner and Dempster"

For effectively pick 26.....as pick 90 is a nothing pick.

King and Schneider are both "first 22" players....and the other two are possibles.

I think that all those that were slagging Kenny this week may owe the guy an apology.

Great work Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I for one am now feelinga lot more confident about 2008 :D

I have no doubt that Brian Peake's previous involvement at Geelong played some part in this deal.

So the 4 all address 2007 areas of weakness..

Small to medium forward Schneider 179cm

Ruck King

Medium forward Gardiner 190cm

Tallish backman Dempster 192cm

Very pleased to see that the club is addressing lista management as a central part of our recruiting.

Exactly.

Anything more than Schneider playing is a real bonus.

Clearly the ruck problem is not fixed but it is certainly "less bad". Teams were fighting over Evertitt at 33 years of age. King could play for another five seasons (I doubt it but it could happen). I think we are a lot better off than the same time last week.

Well fixed may be too strong a word.....

But if King plays in the ruck he is better than Kosi....and WAY better than Rix or Brooks.

Gardiner is potentially better....but who knows if he will ever play.

If King can play...it means that Kosi can just play as a power forward...his best position.

IF King and Gardiner both played...then that would be wet dream stuff and a very good ruck division.

King is only 28??? what the hell??

THIS IS AWESOME!!!

S.King and M.Gardiner in the Ruck.. who wouldve thought!!??

Charlie will help fill Hammil role.

Milne into the midfield for pace. (he has been playing that role well)

Schneider fast small forward who plays well in big games and Dempster a tall Backman premierhip player at 23 could develop lots of potential!!

BEST TRADING EVER!!!

Ok, so even if ex-WCE Gardiner's foot is stuffed and he plays zero games in 2008, King should be capable of 10 to 15 games (15 max due to likely injuries through the year given his problems).......this is awesome relative to where we have been.

The damage done by GT's neglect unfortunately is taking several years to fix

Yes...... WOW indeed.

Extremely good trading by the Saints IMO.

King is a former AA and captain of his club. Most importantly he is fit (although has had injury problems) and as recently as two weeks ago has played good football.

Schneider - out of our stellar forward line of early 2004 (Gehrig, Hammill, Riewoldt, Milne, Guerra) we have lost 3 of those in the last 3 years without replacing them. Perhaps Kosi and Schneider can be the ones to step up.

Dempster and Gardiner - I really can't comment as I know bugger all about them tbh.

Yes your right lets keep the same list or draft young guys and hope a pick 26 will be good because the last 3 picks for us around that mark have been excellent.

got a flea up your arse have you......i was pissed off that the vibes were that the saints were going to send fisher to the swanes along with pick 26 for two middle of the road journeymen......

now if that hasn't happened...good....

anyway....

......schneider was originally picked up with pick 60 in 2001 and dempster was a father son selection at pick 35 in 2002....guess neither of them worked out as the press say "they have been """""offloaded """""to the saints"

.....pick 26 has snared in previous years guys like shane briss, daniel mcconnell and jarred rivers....a mixed bag...

...anyway i am entitled to post my views ...which have been nothing like the crap that you have attributed to me....without you and your slimy shadow teflon trying to have a piece of me.

No mate of Teflon and yes you can have any view you like. I just disagree. Whats it matter what pick was used to get those guys to the Swans. Does that make them less players now. You are right they were not wanted by the Swans but it was due to salary cap pressure not ability especially in Schneiders case.
