Swans (Mk2)??

Post: # 473753Post plumtire »

With the recruitment of Schneider and Dempster (along with the importation of the Sydney gameplan). Can we now expect to be called the St Kilda Swans?

We don't actually play the Swans gameplan....though yes we have elements of it...particularly when the opposition have the ball (but then we used to be poor at this aspect and needed to improve).

Theres only 1 reason the trade happened, Ross Lyon.

If he wasn't our coach we wouldn't have got them.

Roos and Lyon are mates.....mates help each other out.

Roos won his premiership (I didn't see it, their game style made me fall asleep), now hes helping out Lyon with a few players we require.

Roos sees that Sydney are now done for a few years.....so hes giving Lyon a chance.

The same happened over in the NBA with Garnett been traded from the Timberwolves to the Celtics, The Assistant GM of the Timberwolves is Kevin McHale.....Ex-Celtic great.....

Im thinking this trade may pay off.....

But we'll wait and see.....

Thats naive.

Sydney recruits for sydney's benifit.

its been well publicised that Sydney are after pace. they have 3 or 4 players who fill the same roll.

Dempster is like schwarz, playing senior games because they have nothing better. Sydney's depth was exposed this year and in the absence of their golden injury free run, they stumbled.

Schneider, is a player of the stature of guerra when he was with us, I can see at 23 he has potential to be better. But the likelyhood of him getting faster is slim. I can see his contribution improving though.

Having RL at the club...and Schneider KNOWING that Ross really wanted him would have been the difference in getting Schneider to accept the deal.

I think we'll find that Schneider wasn't as good a fit to the "sydney gameplan" as some of the up and coming folk. And that Jolly is - at a decent price.

There may also be a school of thought amongst the swans that an ex-saint ex-hawk hasn't provided the x factors he was brought in for.
