Hypothetical Round1 side.

Post: # 473715Post ben_fff »

I posted this on the other forum while this was down.

This would be my NAB cup round 1 team:

B: Raphael Clarke - Matt Maguire - Sam Gilbert
HB: Matt Ferguson - Sam Fisher - Sean Dempster
C: Aaron Fiora - Leigh Montagna - Jason Gram
HF: Adam Schneider - Jarred Allen - Brendon Goddard
F: Steven Milne - Justin Koschitzke - Fergus Watts
R: Michael Gardiner - Luke Ball - Xaver Clarke
INT: Jarryn Geary - David Armitage - Robert Eddy - Chris Johnson

This would be my round 1 side:

B: Leigh Fisher - Max Hudghton - Sam Gilbert
HB: Sam Fisher - Matt Maguire - Sean Dempster
C: Aaron Fiora - Lenny Hayes - Jason Gram
HF: Adam Schneider - Nick Riewoldt - Brendon Goddard
F: Steven Milne - Justin Koschitzke - Jarred Allen/Fergus Watts
R: Michael Gardiner - Luke Ball - Nick Dal Santo
INT: Robert Harvey - Xavier Clarke - Fiora - (extra ruckman/most impressive young midfielder)

Just to clarify this time around, the blokes missing from the round one NAB team would be introduced in the later rounds of the pre season.

Correct, probably give our number 9 a run and either Brooks or Rix.

I think we'll get done for having too many players on the paddock.

Agreed. Schiender on the other hand yes, would merit a first 22 spot I reckon.

Who is Chris Johnson. If its the Melb one doubt he will be at the Saints.

I know Fraser's retired but aren't you missing another B&F Top 10 player? (Besides Joey)

FWIW, an uninterupted pre-season by Raph should see him in our best 22

Agree on the NAB Cup side - MUST TRY ALL THE YOUNG GUYS ON THE LIST!

The brief would be to Watts and Brooks - go for it there is a forward and ruck spot available, you will be given the opportunity in the NAB cup.

Assuming Goddard is fit!

B. R.Clarke Max S.Fisher
HB. X.Clarke Maguire Gram
C. Montanga Hayes Goddard
HF. Schneider Roo Harvey
F. Milne Kosi ???

R: ??? Ball Dal Santo

Gilbert Fiora Blake ???

Ruck - From King (PSD only), Gardiner, Rix and Brooks
Kosi to be forward and 2nd ruckman as required.

Forward - from Watts, Brooks, Ferg, Allen or a small Armitage?
Bench spot mids required from - Fisher, Dempster, Birrs, Armitage, McQ etc..

X must play half back IMO, gets lost up forward and doesn't use his marking skils when forward.

With the two Clarkes (assuming Raph gets fit this pre season) Gram and Sam Fisher we'd provide a hug amount of run out of the backline adding Dempster and possibly Fiora as required could release gram to the wing or midfield in bursts.

Harves as a permanent forward with a licence to go where he pleases with stints on the bench and minor stints in the middle. RL - please don't over use Harves in the middle as you did in thre first half of 07.

We still look a good midfielder short and the ruck is a major concern unless Gardiner gets fit (wont hold my breath) or Watts or Brooks stand up and play forward - assuming they are not delisted.

You are forgetting Baker is allowed to play pre-season, so slot him in because he'llneed all the game time he can get pre-season considering we won't take the field ikn the real season til round 6 or 7.
