Haselby looked the goods a few years ago, now is a good player, but not worth putting any effort into chasing -Birss is probably just as effective..

Effective? Birss is sub 70 on the effectiveness rating. Prior to his well documented run of injuries, Hazelby was the effectiveness king of AFL mids, with the ability to command and clear the ball.

Don't know what was wrong with him this year, but given the love he showed for the handball and penchant for dissapearing under a tag through '07, I'd be concerned that there are still OP issues. Was certainly good, but nowhere near where he was at.

Should Saints doctors be given the chance to check him out and give him the all clear, he'd be one of the very few players I'd be willing to part with our first rounder for... if it's a salary cap concern, it's a different type of trade as we've got our own scale to look after, but he's a guy that's worth making it fit around if it's possible. Better kicking is just what the Saints need, and Hazelby was Dal Santo like in that area till he got hurt.

400k for a healthy Hazelby? In a heartbeat. I'm shocked the Dockers would make Hazelby the fall guy for their underperforming list at 26 with any hope of recovering previous form.
