Who wears #4 now..a very significant No in our history

Post: # 449201Post saint66au »

Darrell Baldock, Barry Breen, Tony Lockett, Andrew Thompson..

The No 4 jumper is in the very elite jumper No's at the Saints...so who wears it now??

I reckon Sam Gilbert is the only " up and comer" who deserves this jumper...so its Gilbo for #4 for me

Sam Fisher is another option but I reckon hes starting to make 25 his own

there were a few suggestions the other day :)

http://www.saintsational.com/forum/view ... hp?t=35300

personally I'd like to see our new list - ( despite hating exchange time)
before thinking of who would like to upgrade to # 4 or # 9

#14 to #4... has a familiar ring about it! :D

I like the players making their numbers their own (#35, #26 etc.) - I enjoy seeing them wear the same from start to finish.

Agree 4 is a "special" number.

Doc
Plugger
Eicke
Cumberland
Breen

Needs to go to a "special" player.

Luke Ball could be a possibility.
Gilbert shows that he might be up to it, but maybe a bit early.

But why not give it to GODDARD ?
He has already proved he is a superstar.

I like the thought of Gilbert getting the #9. Would also love to know that G was to present it to him !!

Don't know about Ball ... he's already played 100 in #14 ...

Someone like Goddard, Gilbert or Armitage would be ideal IMO.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

I like the Attard to #13 like someone else said, I wouldn't mind seeing #9 go to Watts to let him know we are go ing to back him and that this is his chance to become something special.
As for 4... no idea....

i would prefer goddard kept 18. he is a number 1 pick, an improving player and can make his own history in that jumper.

wasn't implying that no great players have worn that jumper, but rather that BJ should play hus whole career in the no. 18

Apart from Cowboy I can't really think of anyone significant with "18".

Except for Brett Bowey. :D

Oh and some guy called Grant Thomas

didn 't Cripps wear the number 18? he was always one of my favourites, when he managed to get out on the park

i'd say Gilbert to number 4, Goddard and the rest have played for too long with there current numbers

How many games did Plugger wear #14 before switching to #4?

Mr M
he wore 14 from his second season (84) till end of 87.
In those 4 years he played 81 games and kicked 333 goals at an ave of 4.1 per game.

His full record (I don't count his games with The Parasites),
remembering that his original jumper was 37.

Number Games Goals Average
37 12 19 1.6
14 81 333 4.1
4 90 546 6.1

Tot 183 games 898 goals 4.91 ave

SO he changed his jumper to #4 after he won the Brownlow?

How about we offer it to Roo?

#4 has much more significance to me than #12

Roo has already stated he wants to make his own name in the number 12 jumper

Can't think of any great number 12's apart from Cat.
Ross Oakley ? (though his name should be banished).

So it would be fitting if Roo moved to a jumper with a greater history.
