Peter Bell has indicated that he will retire but I think Fremantle are trying to talk him around.

Why biggest year???

Players retire every year???

Though perhaps more "big" names this year.

In Hall's case there's the added frustration being unable to play at all in 2007 because of a debilitating hip injury and finishing his career on 99 games for the Tigers.

But the versatile 26-year-old, who played in just about every position for Richmond during his nine seasons with the club, told the media at Punt Road on Tuesday that the decision was easy.

"It's sort of left me at the point where I have no choice - I can't play at this level or any level," Hall said.

Ther are around 600 players on club lists (16 clubs x 39).
The average career is less than 5 seasons.

So a minimum of 120 players drop out of the system each year.

Camporeale announced retirement last week ...

Or Sheedy basically said as much.

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

and the list continues to grow

pickett and C Johnson- Lions

Thommo has said most of the year that this would be his last Ric-and stated that he didn't think he was well known enough to have to 'declare' it, But as I stated in another thread- anyone who plays over 200 games deserves the ' announcement'

do Umpires count?

Brett Allen, who today announced he will retire at the end of the season.

Allen has also enjoyed a long serviceable career umpiring 346 games since his debut in 1992. Allen has officiated in seven Grand Finals (1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006) and has been a four-time All Australian umpire.

You left 1 important stat off his cv, SaintBrat

He 'won' a game at Fremantle in 2005
