I have supporters say that sort of stuff to me all the time too... but they're not just Essendon fans. All clubs' supporters do it... We even do it!
On Friday night, how many people were boo-ing Cousins? That's no different really. Should the Eagles hate Harvey for that very reason?
Mate... take a player for who they are, not who their supporters are. Hird is a champion, a decent bloke... and something that you should see as a huge thing in your eyes... a brilliant family man.
Off the park I'm not so convinced. Cousins we know about. Hird, the "family man" eh? - well that's what the media will tell you. Not so sure that I'd take all that at 100% face value.
Bottom line, best to give praise to players for their on-field actions - got to be very careful not to put 'em on too much of a pedestal off it. We'll only get disappointed when it turns out in reality to not necessarily be so.
