Was doing a little bit of research to see how our opponents went the week after playing us.

Some food for thought anyway.......

Round 2 lost to Brisbane. Brisbane Round 3 - LOST 27 points to Sydney.
Round 3 defeated Bulldogs. Bulldogs Round 4 - WON 32 points over Richmond.
Round 4 lost to Essendon. Essendon Round 5 - LOST 16 points to Collingwood.
Round 5 lost to Port Adelaide. Port Adelaide Round 6 - WON 5 points over Melbourne
Round 6 defeated Carlton. Carlton Round 7 - LOST 24 points to Collingwood
Round 7 defeated Sydney. Sydney Round 8 - WON 31 points over Port Adelaide
Round 8 lost to Hawthorn. Hawthorn Round 9 - WON 35 points over West Coast
Round 9 lost to Fremantle. Fremantle Round 10 - LOST 9 points to Collingwood.
Round 10 lost to Geelong. Geelong Round 11 - WON 7 points over Adelaide.
Round 11 lost to Kangaroos. Kangaroos Round 12 - LOST 46 points to Adelaide.
Round 12 defeated West Coast. West Coast Round 13 - WON 21 points over Adelaide.
Round 13 defeated Richmond. Richmond Round 14 - LOST 25 points to Kangaroos.
Round 14 lost to Collingwood. Collingwood Round 15 - LOST 16 points to Geelong.
Round 15 defeated Adelaide. Adelaide Round 16 - LOST 25 points to Fremantle.
Round 16 defeated Hawthorn. Hawthorn Round 17 - LOST 37 points to Kangaroos.
Round 17 defeated Carlton. Carlton Round 18 - LOST 24 points to Collingwood.
Round 18 drew with Western Bulldogs. Western Bulldogs Round 19 - LOST 42 points to Melbourne.
Round 19 lost to Sydney. Sydney Round 20 - DREW with Brisbane.
Round 20 defeated Fremantle. Fremantle Round 21 - WON 59 points over Melbourne.

That would make our record this year against the opposition the following (so far)

12 times a team has lost to its next opposition after playing us the previous week.
7 times a team has beaten its next opposition after playing us the previous week.
1 draw.

It privides information of how TEAM pull up the following week after playing St Kilda.

Gives an idea of how fresh or tired we make teams....based on how hard we make them work.

TBH, I reckon it shows how soft our draw has been.

You're on the right page Spinner.........

Collingwood have notched up 4 wins this year against teams who played us the previous week.

not really

there is so much else going on to decide a game of footy

this can't possibly have a correlation above 0.05

I think, if anything, it actually shows how weak most of our wins have been.

To narrowly beat a 'good' team that goes on to lose to an average side doesn't say much for their form.

There haven't been many wins this season that I've taken confidence in - our opponents have often shown themselves to be in a slump when we've beaten them, and I'm not sure you can say we caused the slump by beating them when it is just as likely that it was their slump that allowed us to win.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.
