AFL Chief Executive, Andrew 'Don' Demetriou, was last night interviewed at the Melbourne offices he uses as a front for various orphan smuggling operations.
Smoking a fat cigar and chuckling incessantly, he appeared happy at the news that the St Kilda family had been whacked.
'They disrespected The Organisation' he said. 'Nobody disrespects The Organisation'.
When quizzed about his plans for the future of AFL football, he stated that it was his intention to make the game less of a 'league', and more a series of spectacular events.
'AFL Smackdown', as he called it, would simply have good teams and bad teams, and each week these teams would battle it out amidst pyrotechnic displays and loud rock music.
'People don't want to see equal teams doing battle on a level field' said the Don. 'People want to see their team win at all costs'.
When asked if that would mean players' families could jump into the oval and smash chairs over opponents' heads, Demetriou stated that this sort of behaviour would 'go unnoticed' from the 'good guy' teams, ie all non-Victorian teams and Collingwood. 'Bad guy' teams like St Kilda would not be permitted to win matches, and would therefore be penalised heavily at the slightest hint of an infringement.
'It's about getting the fans excited' said Demetriou. 'Nobody wants to see a team like St Kilda win matches'.
