It is (almost) time for our President & CEO to come out and let us all know what the intentions of the club are regarding the Baker case.

They will probably stay quiet until morning when they will have all the transcripts and all the legal advice.

BUT THEY DO NEED TO MAKE A STATEMENT, AND IT NEEDS TO BE A POWERFUL STATEMENT !!

Totally agree.

And media have to turn up the heat on the AFL and the huge run on anti-Saints decisions ... now it is beyond a joke.

If they dont make a stand they should both resign.

Otherwise they will get spilled with the alternative ticket.

Lance or James??

For goodness sake, of course they're going to appeal - they've made some shocking decisions, but they'll be appeal, don't worry.

It's all good folks. I can't see them being that stupid that they wouldn't appeal.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

There is no other option but for them to appeal.

The process and decision are unconscionable - the members of this club must stand united in seeing that this club stops being whipping boy for arbitrary applications of “rulesâ€

evertonfc is correct.

There is absolutely nothing to lose at all in this case now, so an appeal is just standard procedure.

The real decision comes after the appeal (which would be similarly lengthy and IMO reduce the penalty to around 5 weeks).

Do you then take it to court?

They should only play AFL games now when it's raining. Slow games of footy are so much better to watch.

Nope they should shutup and just appeal by going public will just get the AFL even more pissed off... and less reasons to be reasonable.

the AFL is the biggest pig head organisation and they hold all the cards. Go by the book otherwise it is doomed from the start. If the appeal isn't successfull then go public.

It is not a defeatist attitude because I never said give up just don't go grandstanding at this stage it's not weakness but actually using your brain.

I dont care if it takes 20 appeals and a long winded court case.
We must do everything that is humanly possible and not stop until the entire suspension is overturned.

If they actually bumped heads - then court case is a MUST!

This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

I have zero confidence that we'll appeal it.

Ken Sheldon's post hearing comments make we even less confident (if that's possible).

On what grounds would we appeal? :?

On the grounds that the finding was incorrect based on the evidence.

The finding of guilty is flawed - in that the AFL failed to prove an unlawful action occured. That there was sufficient doubt presented by the defence and no clear testimony from the "eye-witness" that proved what actually happened.

how is it Baker's fault that Farmer decides not to use his eyes or brains?
or that Farmer preferred to go at the man rather than the ball?
Baker didn't purposefully stop so that Farmer could run into him.

Farmer should also be charged for engaging in rough conduct, making high contact and acting recklessly.
He shouldn't have been running so close to him and then Baker wouldn't have that huge bump on his head.
