Urgent Message to St.Kilda Football club President Rod
Butterss /Senior coach Ross Lyon/CEO Archie Fraser and
all St.Kilda Football Club board members.

As a long standing St.Kilda/ AFL member I would like
an assurance to all members that the club will
exercise its legal rights in relation to Stephen Baker
being required to front the tribunal to answer a rough
conduct charge.This case has no legal validity in the
absence of any video footage and will be based purely
on hearsay from the parties involved and 3rd party
witnesses.Given the extreme weakness this represents
legally the club must act and pursue all legal avenues if there is an unfavourable
finding to protect the intergrity of the player
involved, the St.Kilda Football club and the AFL as an credible
organisation.

Lets absolutely flood the place with emails/phone calls /Faxes etc...the club needs to know that we feel very strongly about this farce and have expectations as members about the way the club should respond...

The fact this has even been refered to the Tribunal is beyond a joke and will test once a for all whether we as a club have the balls to stand up to these spineless, corrupt ba$tards

oh come on, the very fact that they have sent it to the tribunal will have put pressure on the tribunal tomorrow night.

If baker does get off I would not put it past the AFL to de-register him.

And if you start about jumping at shadows, they have shown they are very happy to re-write the rules to suit their means.

I am involved on the board of a Junior Football League. (Volunteer)

Officials from clubs can make a complaint against an opposition player / official and supporters.

I will explain the process of an allegation against a player..........not seen by an umpire.....no report made on day.

A statement received from official/club making the complaint
The other Club responds to that complaint
Conduct manager (of League)decides if independant hearing required to determine if a case to answer

Our independat hearing.......would be similar to the role of afl officer

If the independant hearing determines that a player has a possible case to answer
(not confirmed guilt) it will send that player to face the Independant player Tribunal..........

Similar to what the AFL officer has done.......interviewed certain alleged witnesses etc....as result of this information has considered that the player
(in this case Baker) should front the Tribunal (independant player tribunal)

Not knowing what has been said by various parties difficult to explain further.............

ie because no video or umpire report no case to answer etc......

in my opinion not the case.........

With you in principle Joffa and no doubt the AFL is doing us no favours but lets see how our admin responds to this blight before we spill their blood. Those incidents you mention are all relating to the obviously illegal actions of other clubs' players - Kerr, Hall, Giansiracusa, Whelan etc - and there's not a whole lot the Saints could do about them. We're protecting our own here accused of something well documented on this forum as fantasy as there is no credible evidence. Interesting, but hasn't Baker already been charged with rough conduct? Surely that is not the same as being asked to front up to the tribunal for a chat about what may or may not have occurred.

If they've already laid a charge that suggests that all 'investigations' are over - which suggests to me that EITHER:

1. The AFL feel they have enough to prove the incident;

2. The only evidence they have is a sole allegation from a Freo dude, which they are putting up purely as a matter of procedure to appear fair - but unless Bakes breaks down in a sobbing admission and begs for forgiveness it will be thrown out as word against word.
