You all deserve a slap in the face...

Post: # 436197Post Sobraz »

To all of you on this forum (dont start backtracking now) who have been at pains for weeks to tell us all how much of a dud R. Clarke is, and how G should be dropped or retire, give yourselves a backhander or two so you can ALL wake up..

Both brilliant today, and showed the level they have in them. Inconsistency aside, you do not discard players of their ilk due to a bad patch.

Im no GT fan, but agree whole heartedly with what he said post match, in that, fully fit, R. Clarke is in the top ten players in our side... As Leigh Matthews has stated recently, it is increasingly harder for payers to step up to the AFL level with a poor preparation or when playing injured, as in the case for both of these matchwinners today...

Inspired choice by RL to throw Raph in, and stick with G... interestingly, X had arguably his best game in ages also today... Maybe Raph's old idea of a brother - brother rule aint so silly...

This is not a matter of eating our own on this forum; its about people looking at the bigger picture and stop playing favourites...

Great win by the saints, with plenty of upside to come... Well played Raph..

R.Clarke is a dud, always has been a dud, always will be.

I must point out that one good game IN A STRONG WIN means sweet eff all. Lets see him when the pressure is on and we're being pounded mercilessly.

If he wants to prove to me he's worthy of wearing red white and black he'll have to do a lot more.

I will also say the superficiality in here is ridiculous.

The praise of Blake is also astounding. Look at Blake in crucial situations of close games. He looks slow, stupid and unco-ordinated.

One good game against a dud team and he's a star again.

See-saw-see-saw-see-saw.

I'm deadly serious. One good game against a woeful fremantle means nothing.

It's stealing candy from a baby.

The situation is a joke.

All season people on this forum have demanding R.Clarke be dropped or delisted. (usually the latter from me)

HE plays good game against a WOEFUL opposition and is praised. ME don't understandos!

Thats right.... many people on this forum have called for his head, and these are the people that need a slap for out and out stupidity. The opposition is irrelevant. The level he showed today is indicative of his upside. Nothing to do with freo...

Let him have a full pre-season.
Then watch him go.

IMO the one who looked slow and indecisive was birss.

he may have got plenty of touches but under pressure he is slow as wet cement drying.

very ordinary.

there was a small cheer when someone listening to the radio said farmer may have a broken jaw :D

Also, a slap in the face for the premature ejactulation going on at this site.

r. clrarke is a real talent. yes, he has struggled at times but that is due to lack of game time and a decent pre-season. With some luck and comitment he will be a star.... give him chance.

Too bad the Brownlow isnt decided by one game....I reckon R Clarke would be a shoe in by the vibe in this thread.

lol, i think ur going a bit over the top there...

during the match, Raph took a mark in the backline and i was half way thru uttering the sentence "geez, Raph's actually not going too bad today....", but was interupted by him kicking a 20 meter pass straight to a Freo player inside 50

and then not too long later, making an fool of himself as he dropped a sitter uncontested mark loping into the forward line, 20 meters on his own, to end up turning the ball over with out much of a fight at all.....

He took a few good marks, and a few good kicks, and his overall game was ok...

but in any sort of contested situation when the ball is on the ground, he is flat out hopeless, and appears to be moving in slow-motion

so until someone takes over his "dud" status, he will have to stay in the avatar (tho his brother was looking good for this, but had an excellent game today)

but i on the Gehrig topic, those who were calling to drop him SHOULD get a slap in the face

toot-toot! all aboard the G-Train!

Pfft G-Train is not consistent.. Yeh he CAN kick a bag one week and win the game and b a hero but the next he does NOTHING and kicks 0 goals.. I would rather someone like Kosi who will be good every week then G who will dominate one week and do s*** all the next it's pointless.. STOP G stop the saints??

G has been goaless 3 times this year, i'm sure alot of other FF's would be the same

our leading goal kicker, has kicked 50+ goals this year, and ur having a go at him

no disrespect to Kosi, but he's had just as many bad games this year as G, if not more

don't worry tho, ur prediction on how many goals G would kick today was only 8 off, and the end result only 15 goals off....

fraser has a couple of good years left in him.

you don't discard century goal-kickers or coleman medallists without thinking long and hard about it ... they are not easy to replace.

imo fraser benefitted immensly yesterday from a better gameplan and quicker, more direct delivery into the forward line

voss was also a good foil for both he and riewoldt. important to have more than one or two avenues to goal

yeah, how much better did we, and Gehrig, look when we would kick it quickly to him one-out

at one stage Voss got the ball about 60 out, and straight away, without looking, just kicked it long to the square, Gehrig outmarked his player, and we got a goal

it was one of my favourite plays of the day

Every power forward will have quiet days where the opposition manages to shut them down at all costs. But if it takes two good opponents to keep big Frase quiet then he's earning his dough. Don't forget that he's a good solid kick even from the shocking angles he ends up marking at, and that's not to be sniffed at.

The best way to improve on Fraser's performance is to improve the delivery to him, but even with bad deliveries he can still be very dangerous.

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.
