One of the genuine tough players over the last 10 years. Enjoyed his style of play. Unfortunately we are unlikely to see any more players of his style and build coming into the game.

Absolute champion of our game.
Just the player we need, can we talk him out of it re Doc Clarke?
Good luck other Roo

Cant say enough about him.

Champion of the game, great role model. From the same mould as Voss, fantastic player, fantastic captain.

I always find it weird that like Harvey it's often that he doesn't get grouped with Voss, Hird and Buckley, in my opinion when Roo was on fire he's one of the most damaging players going around.

nope not me i never really put him in the same bracket as hird voss or harvey
maybe in the lower ranks of buckley matera west
he wasnt the kind of guy you would pay the $ just to see him play like you would for Voss Hird and Bangers

he was a good player but not one of the modern greats

id pay to see him.

in his prime fitness and form, you play him through the middle for half a qtr and push him forward for half the quarter and hel have 30 odd disposals and kick 4 goals... superstar.

2nd favourite non-Saint after Archer.......

All the best - not often I'll throw around the "champion" tag, but in this case I'll make an exception!

Wish some of our players had his mongrel and bullocking style. Not only loved to give the hip and shoulder but could take it too.

Shame he had to share the Brownlow with Goodes and Buckley......

Mark Ricciuto Tribunal record........

1994 Striking - Not Guilty
2005 Rough Conduct - 1 match
2006 Striking - 1 match

And seeing as there's not much you can get away with these days - I wouldn't consider that to be the record of a "sniper" in 15 seasons.... would you?

If Ricciuto doesn't play another Senior AFL game again, this would make him the 2nd player this year to have ended their career playing against us (after Koutoufides)

Queried for a long time why Ricciuto and Harvey weren't grouped with "The Voss, Hird and Buckley Show".

Realised that champions like this don't need to be - they sit above them but some love the media - the others are just straight out champions without the fanfare.

Arch, Darc, Roo (all the retirees) etc. all deserve the accolades, they just don't get the hype from the vast majority that love coming to watch them play.

Loved the way Roo went about his footy - tough nut who at most country footy clubs would have the nickname "Nugget".

I think that McLeod surely more fits the bill of a player who you would pay to go and see perform than Ricciuto. But those two could work well together and be very dangerous on their day.

Ricciuto was a great competitor, but injuries and periods of poor form meant that he wasn't as consistently damaging throughout his career as Harves, Hird or Voss. I don't see how he could seriously be rated with these modern marvels. I support the poster who bracketed him with Buckley and West: superior talents, but not all-time greats.

Wow, imagine what he would do for the other three quarters! :)
