A 2023 second round pick????????????
Setting ourselves up for a few more years of mediocrity.
Disagree

Next year's drat is set to be a cracker.

North's 2nd should come in 20-25.

I've looked at some Clark tapes.... he's worth a 2023 high 2nd round and no more.
Pick 7
Under contract
No need to sell low
Try again

Must keep Clark. Just needs a good run at it. Sets a terrible example if we show no faith.

Here’s the last ten years second round picks.

Matthew Allison
Oscar Clavarino
Ben Long
Brandon White
Hugh Goddard
Daniel McKenzie
Luke Dunstan
Blake Acres
Nathan Wright
Spencer White
Brodie Murdoch

Unless I’ve missed a couple that’s a pretty average bunch of 2nd round selections. Lucky perhaps we traded off our second rounders and didn’t have one in 19/20 from memory.

Need to go back to Seb Ross to get a really good player we’ve selected in the 2nd round.

Hopefully last years selections Mitch & Windy buck the trend.
Wasn't Battle a second rounder?

Reading thru this thread it astounds me that every post is not expressing outrage there is even a discussion that we'd contemplate trading Hunter. Start of 2023 he'll be 24 under contract, entering his prime after two years spoilt by injury and the talk is of a late 2nd rounder.
We drafted him at 7 because of his talent, something that has been displayed and ready to dominate with AFL maturity.
Unless there is a Godfather offer (two top 10 pics + McKay) there is not a snowballs chance in Hades the club should contemplate this level of Crazyness. But then again we are the Sainters with a history of nuts trading.

Totally agree.
I wish the club would come out and say he is a required player.

Don't care if he leaves.
Been in the system for years.
Promised to be like Pendlebury, alas never will be, unless he goes.
It's either his fault or the club's fault.
It ain't working.

Bowes is a reasonable replacement for Clark and we'd get our pick 7 back for about what Long cost. Easy 'move on' moment.

Why not have Bowes and Clark and pick 7?

I think the Suns are offering pick 7 to clear their salary cap of Bowes contract. They don't want anymore picks because they'll be getting another early pick for Rankine.

Clark does not have to be offered & nor should he be.

The future second that Clark brings, will be traded to GCS to match rival offers for pick 7. There will be rival offers.
Next year, the GCS will be cash strapped and will be forced to turnover at least five players, 2023 picks will most likely be the optimum currency and Clark's 'potential' expires next year. No one seems to be offering a frdp for him currently.

Yea but you can do that trade without Clark. Bowes comes with salary and pick 7. No need to lose clark

I'm pretty sure that just Long, won't get the deal done. Itisnt a gift to tthe St.Kilda football club.
Long and North's future second would be better. Then we have to give Bowes a 3 year contract. Bowes has a step, is a decent kick and in the cope of things, has more upside than the bloke that cost us pick 7, because he brings pick 7.

Dealing with North is also a good idea. They wanted Long, he wanted GCS, now they may want Clark. Hill looks likely to go to North, who have literally only one pick worth having.
So, Clark and Hill would be attractive. There's your run off half back.
North are aware they will likely lose Horne Francis, who is out of contract next year, so they will come looking for pick 7 or 9 or more established players.
I'd offer Hill, Gresham and Bytel and take a punt on offering JHF a 4 year $800k contract without paying a cent for Hill or Gresh. Call it a salary dump.

Then if Adelaide come calling and JHF responds we demand 2 frdp.

How has this come to light at 11.16pm? Has someone spoken to him in the UK?

Shortly all will be revealed except for where the rumours come from.
Only person not fussed may be Leo Connolly.
North in a bit of a pickle though with no active coach, a new CEO and a recruitment strategy based on now questionable assumptions. (Might eventually have to accept Ross' terms and hand him the job).

Its hard to accept Hunter would leave us though. Have we done badly by him? Love to know what's going on inside the Club and whether the Hill/Clark rumours are just rubbish or not.

Hard to play with a broken jaw

He was also injured this season from memory?

He’d have folded like an accordion yesterday under that pressure. Slow and weak (up to this stage of his FIVE year 30 game career). How much longer do you persist with these players?? Billings is the ultimate example. 10 years later….

100% test the market with Clark.
Injuries or not, show me some results for once!

When is the last player to come in and play well from game 1?? Windhager showed enough consistently this year. Let’s see if he kicks on

God that is rubbish and a short memory

I 4 years you’ll be saying the same about Windhager and Owens if they don’t kick on!

You bet I will be.
No use having list clogger after list clogger and before you know it they are 26-29 year olds.

If midfielders aren’t producing by 23 then it’s time to go.
Key position players a fraction longer provided they show glimpses.
