The Ashes thread when they were last in England was successful & harmless so being the off season I thought I'd risk it in the main forum - it will be done by mid Jan.

It's either chat about the Ashes or the End of the World. The Poms may be asking, What's the difference?

Choosing not to play Anderson & Broad is akin to St Kilda not playing Marshall & Ryder, stating we'll save them for games at the G. Play your best players if they are fit. Especially those bowlers, at the Gabba, in the opening Test.

Aso - fー--ing - loootelly!!!

What are the rationalists up to now ....
Rotating bowlers like they are baseball pitchers playing on successive week nights ....

Pace bowlers, especially older ones, coming off a spell are often lame and with poor control...Spoken by an expert... My Under 15Cs medium pacers were called fasty-medium (by Me’ I know you believe me.

Once i mastered underarm bowling as a kid i exhausted my potential, i never got any better, maybe that's why i'm not much of a cricket fan.

Marcus Harris is officially our worst ever opening batsman.

Someone like to inform how those balmy army turds got into the country, seeing our borders are still closed to f****** tourists?

A mate sent me a stat that 233 players have now opened in at least 20 innings. Harris comes in at 223rd on average. A damning statistic for Harris and the selectors.

I read that a gaggle of Poms living in Queensland were going to be a "substitute' Barmy Army at the cricket due to travel restrictions on the Barmier Army coming out here.

As I thought. A ragtag bunch of f****** transplanted pommies, still pineing for the mother country.

What is worse, it would seem that their children born in this country have also been infected with their loser mentality.

It may depend on who plays well for the Aussie A team.

Good to see the Aussie's score at a decent rate .
Would have been nice if the umpires hurried the poms along with their shocking over rate , 84 out of a possible 98 today .
And would be nice if the umpires didn't miss so many no balls
We might have been close to 300 ahead if we faced the full quota

Travis Head's century is one of the best I have seen by an Aussie against the Poms in my time. He came to the wicket when Smith got out, six runs later Warner departs and Green is cleaned bowled first ball. A mini-collapse that would have put many Aussie batsmen back in their shell. Instead, Head channeled all of his skill and courage and was 112 not out at stumps from only 95 balls. He probably won't bat again in the match because he has put the Aussies 196 runs ahead.

Damn shame it is being played at the Gabba, I'd go every day and have a beer with Dave, Firey and Shane if it was played at cricket's spiritual home - the wonderful Junction Oval!

You think they'll declare already? Start tomorrow morning with Starc and co. and bang in to the Poms early? Wow...never thought of that. But maybe it is a good idea??
If Australia decide to bat all through tomorrow and declare say an hour before close at 9/695, leaving the Poms a 700 run chase...the Poms might just be able to bat out two days on a drying pitch or if its wet....with interruptions.

Khawaja
Test Average 40 (50 in Aus, 70 as an opener)

Harris
Test Average 23

You know it makes sense?!

Langer can’t stand Uzzie… because Uz stands up to him… and has openly said he loves Harris like a little brother!

Correction on that stat, Harris comes in 233rd!

Agree B.M., Usman's record is stupidly superior to Harris. If what you say is true and I don’t doubt it, it says more about Bailey and Langer than our choices for opener.

It's been a few seasons now where we have no young opening bats around the country putting their hand up. If not Usman, I'd give Renshaw as many shots at it as Harris has had if no one else wants to do it.

Thing is,

Harris will probably come out and make 60 in the second dig!

And it’ll be another 3 or 4 tests before he will be dropped.

He’s not a Test opener’s arsehole!
