Play a prelim like the Cats did and they should definitely get an F, they were putrid.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I assume they have someone in mind
Dan Talia maybe?
I wonder
Yeah, get a 30 year-old with injury issues. Far better long term for the Club. What could possibly go wrong? Look at how well this type of recruiting strategy has worked for Geelong.

Oh!
True it'd be shitzen houzen to finish in the top 4 and go to Grand Finals and prelims EVERY FECKING YEAR. Poor Geelong

Maybe they could take tips from us??? Hehehehe
Laugh all you like but Geelong in recent seasons has chosen to top-up with ageing stars in belief it could squeeze out another flag. That has not worked, has it? Do you reckon they will get lucky with this strategy in 2022?

I keep saying if Geelong wore red, white and black guernseys the media pile-on would stretch beyond our imaginations.
My only point is whatever they're doing I wish we had their Success. I'd take a failed prelim over a sad season anyday
Cat Lee sounds catchy.
Don't favor the Cats but when Frank Costa brought Character First into the club, everyone and everything changed. People weren't perfect but the culture was transformed and they've been legendary ever since.

I hate them there's no doubt, but how can anyone see their success and think they'd NOT want the same?

Read a b.s. article grading Cats season... All these experts gave them an "F". Get to a prelim and you get an F.

Go figure.
Costa, Cook and Thompson transformed Geelong at all levels and deserved the remarkable success that followed. Absolutely no doubt. And any journo that gave them an F rating is an F wit. Absolutely no doubt.

I hope Scott stays at Geelong, because he is ignorant enough to believe their possession style footy will still cut it. When most of the competition (apart from Port & WCE) have moved to copy Richmonds style eg Melbourne & Bulldogs. Its time for Geelong to fall off the cliff they have clung to for the past 2 seasons.

i would have thought
having the 'possession game' in your kitbag
was important
to arrest opposition momentum
(give your backs a breather)
kill some time
or wear the fuckers out
whilst they try 'n man up
to get the pill back

u know !! like plan B stuff

let alone
accurate access into the area where our big sticks are

Scott is the most successful coach in terms of winning points from home and away games in the last fifty years….
You think he’s ignorant…?
You think their game style hasn’t worked?

Which game style has proved more successful?
Sydney?

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

The possession game belted StK

They denied us the ball and picked apart our zone

Ratten and his team coach poorly against the cats and don’t press up on them.

He's off to South Adelaide to play in our feeder league.

Given we are currently addicted to drafting South Australians, we'll be able to keep an eye on him if he improves. He is still younger than Tom Highmore, who shone in the SANFL as a mature recruit.

They posted this nice highlights video of him to announce his signing:

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

The strangest decision of the entire off-season was cutting Clavarino and keeping Joyce IMO
Thought Clav showed a bit from his limited opportunities and is significantly better in contests then DJ and he is easily more effective as a stopper, spoiler or play maker.

A real head scratcher for me

Clavarino is playing for South Adelaide in 2022, if he goes ok he's right there in St Kilda's favourite recruiting zone, South Australia

If Clavarino wants another shot at AFL he needs to get stronger physically and in the contest.....be able to hold his ground against an opponent. He had four years to develop that side of his game and it didn't happen

Yep. I agree with you there and he also needs to stay on his f****** feet.

The game come to a stop once you mark and then fall over FFS.

I was a fan but can see why he was let go.

Beno88 wrote: Tue 14 Sep 2021 9:15am Feel for Clav, so many injury setbacks, but was nowhere near the level required to be a defender in a top 6 AFL team.

Wish him all the best, but I'll be amazed if he ends up at another AFL club.

Seems just another draftee that has to produce his very best to get a game at AFL level, but that's as far as it goes. Like Ed Phillips, Hugh Goddard, Doulton Langlands, Robbie Young, Bailey Rice, Brandon White, Lewis Pierce, Nathan Wright, Cameron Shenton, Josh Saunders, Brodie Murdoch, Tom Curren.... there's been so many over the last decade that just don't develop up to the next level.
Love that you put that list together. Brodie Murdoch.... I now remember him! Geez.... I really liked him as a - as you say - a guy who has to be at the top of his game all the time to get a chance. (Ed Phillips I still reckon was worth persisting with).

the Clav's effort and endeavor can't be questioned, and he did have a footy brain. Just not talented enough to make the most of all his positive attributes. He would easily regular at a lower-ranked side. If I were GCS.... I'd take him.

For some reason the club rated Joyce over Clavarino, perhaps it was his application? Clavarino was still clumsy, poor below his knees and didnt have great closing speed. I think we may have taken Charlie Dean if he was available in the rookie draft, that raises the question why we didnt take him with a late pick in the main draft? Dean is only 1 year older than Allison, but 3 years ahead as far as AFL readiness goes.

God help us if we lose Howard for an extended period, although we can always still take players as SSP or the MSD if required. Joyce is only on a 1 year contract, so the club dont see him as a long term option and the need for a ready to play backup FB remains. We now have Adams on the list, but he like Allison will be years before he is ready to step up. Good Full Backs are becoming like Ruckman, a very rare commodity and believe the club will regret over looking Dean when they had their chance to take him.

There are quite a few of us screaming for another key defender who could play now if required, but the club does not appear to see it as a need.
Time will tell and I would rather be wrong than saying ‘I told you so’.
