Forward structure??
In other words he brings nothing to the team. Less than a goal a game is not good enough.

Even allowing for the fact the off season activities are very slow, i can't believe posters have to resort to debating the merits of a couple of list cloggers.

Long and Lonie won't be in the Saints next premiership team, that's not just because they'll be in their dotage.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Question

Who has had the better AFL career thus far

Ben Long or Jack Lonie?
Probably Lonie. I would cut both from the list and give a couple of kids an opportunity.
Which kids are you referring to? Names?
Mitch Owens and Marcus Windhager.
Two of our NGA kids who are showing great promise. But we will need draft picks to match bids for them.
Marcus Windhager:
Midfielder
183cm/82kg
16/5/03
Sandringham Dragons/Vic Metro
Windhager presents as an exciting talent because of his power and versatility. Playing mainly as a midfielder this season, Windhager has shown a quick step out of traffic and ability to explode past opponents. But he can also be deployed across half-forward and half-back and takes the game on with his kicking. After overcoming a knee reconstruction last year, Windhager has pushed himself into second-round considerations. He is tied to St Kilda's Next Generation Academy, with the Saints able to match a bid for him after pick 20.

Mitch Owens:
A POTENTIAL future Saint is rising up draft boards after a run of consistent performances.
Mitchito Owens, who is tied to St Kilda's Next Generation Academy, has enjoyed a strong season but has stepped up his game in recent weeks to be a top-30 pick contender and now he has been added to AFL.com.au's rolling NAB AFL Draft team of the year.
Owens gathered 25 disposals, seven clearances and five inside-50s for the Sandringham Dragons against Greater Western Victoria Rebels in the NAB League and once again showcased his run and carry.
It came after the 17-year-old was a late call-up to Vic Metro's clash with Vic Country in July and picked up 29 disposals and a goal. St Kilda will be able to match bids on Owens outside of the top-20 selections on draft night.

Of course not.
But there are many other factors to consider if dropping Lonie and Long for these kids.
It's quite conceivable that L & L will not play more than a handful of games each for the rest of their careers at St Kilda.
O & W could play over 100 each in the next 10 years.
Also a saving on salary cap which will help get B. King.

I’m not sure the wages of Long and Lonie would come within a bull’s roar of Ben king’s asking price?!

My opinion the front 7 should be
1-M.King
2-R.Marshall
3-T.Membrey
4-J.Higgins
5-D.Butler
6-B.Long
7.C.Sharman

Reserves
D.Kent
M.Wood

Of course not, but if they save $100,000 it will be handy.

I would replace Long with Billings and my Reserves would be Hannebery and Battle.
