Bytel concussed at training

Post: # 1909840Post Gershwin »

Tom Morris reports:ST KILDA’s Jack Bytel was concussed in a training incident on Monday and will be unavailable for selection this weekend.

Foxfooty.com.au has received confirmation from the Saints that the midfielder received a head knock at Moorabbin and will now be subject to the AFL’s concussion protocols.

Nothing surprises me ATM can't even get through a training session without causing more casualties

Geary has just had a shoulder operation this week.

That's him for the year, I would think - and probably his last game too, given he is 33 the day after tomorrow.

Bad news about Bytel though. I imagine that must count him out for the Richmond and the Collingwood games. Bummer.

There was a rumour that Jones could be back soon. Can anybody shed any light on a potential return? He has been out on the sidelines for 6 weeks already, with the Richmond match being week 7 with what was thought to be an 8-10 week injury. He couldn't be far away now.

From what I hear, he was hit in the head by a football that was a wayward shot at goal. Bytel had his back turned to play talking to someone on the boundary next to the behind post, when this as yet unnamed player missed from 40 out directly in front and falconed him out of nowhere

The safest place to stand when one of our guys is having a shot would be the centre of the goals.

Gee I really question Bytel's footy smarts then, surely every player at the club knows to keep their eye on the football when our players are having shots at goals. Or do the coaches need to take some accountability for not getting the messaging clear around player safety when players are practicing goal kicking.

Or maybe the club needs to invest in a siren and/or flashing lights that come on when a player is having a shot at goal.

It is definitely a very serious situation

Now you have confused me, do you mean concussion or goal kicking (is a very serious situation)?

Was it Jack Bell??

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Both are very serious as is concussion caused by goal kicking.
I think that’s the often unacknowledged killer here

Seemed like it could have been a Dean Kent Elbow from vision on Ch 9, not mentioned but if you see it.

The biggest surprise with this unfortunate event is that Dean Kent is still at the club, I'd forgotten about him.

I prefer the explanation that had him concussed after being hit in the head with a footy by an errant goal kicker ( take your pick. There is 22 to choose from).

A metaphor for how we've gone this season, I reckon.

Was he King hit ?

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.
